Maddie forgot her dance, Abby looked furious, but changed her look to a sad expression. Maddie was her favorite, so Abby did not usually get mad at her. Her tears remained. The dance was so emotional for her to take. A second later, the choreography snapped back into Maddie's head as she leaped across the stage and started a triple ballet pirouette, landing gracefully. The tears continued to fall, as she ended her dance. "You were amazing." Kendall told her. "Thanks, Kendall K," Maddie whispered, "You were wonderful."

The two girls walked back onto the stage, waiting to hear the awards. "In 5th place, Maddie Ziegler with 'Without You'." Maddie ran up and got her award, with a satisfying look on her face. No one expected her to win, considering she forgot her dance. "In 1st place, Kendall Vertes with 'Fool Me Twice'!" Kendall ran up to the front of the stage, standing next to the 2nd place winner. The ALDC girls screamed and cheered for their friend who was very happy to recieve the 1st place trophy.

The girls had also won 1st with their group number, so they weren't scared to return to the dressing room. "Good job girls!" Abby cheered. "Maddie, can I talk to you for a minute?" "Okay, Miss Abby." The scared girl answered. They walked out of the green room into the hallway, lined with dressing rooms.

"I've noticed that you haven't been the same Maddie as you were last year."
