Maddie answered, "Ever since Kenzie died, I started not liking dance as much." She did not manage to hold back her tears, and started crying. Surprisingly, Abby did not yell 'Save your tears for the pillow', as she did the last few years. "I-I w-want a-a br-break." She cried. "It's okay Maddie. Everyone needs a break once in a while. But, everyone is improving right now. I feel like last year, you were soaring. So, now you think that you don't have to practice anymore." Abby responded. She paused for a moment before saying, "I don't want to let you down, Miss Abby."
"It's time for the group number." Abby said, and all the girls walked backstage. After the talk with Abby, Maddie felt like a ton weight has been lifted off from her shoulders. "Next up in the junior small group division, the Abby Lee Dance Company with "Survivor". Maddie walked on to the stage and started the dance, in sync with the other dancers. She was nervous for the turn combination because they always seemed to mess up on that part. Triple a la seconde: 1-2-3 made it, four float turns: 1-2-3-4 made it, double pirouette: yes, three fouettes: yes, and a final single pirouette: yes! The end of the dance soon came and everyone got into their ending positions. Maddie felt like they all did well, as the team held hands and walked back to the green room together.
Once in the dressing room, Abby cheered to them, "That was fabulous! Maddie, you were flawless and had amazing emotion!" Now it was time for awards. The ALDC dancers walked over to the stage for awards. "In 10th place, Maddie with Without You. Maddie was actually kind have happy because she did not think that she would have placed. "First place in the junior solo division goes to Kendall with Fool Me Twice." Kendall ran up to grab the trophy and plaque that the judge gave her. Maddie looked at the end of the Top 10 line to see her best friend, who was very excited. "First place goes to the Abby Lee Dance Company with Survivor." All the girls jumped up to the sound of their mothers and Abby clapping and cheering. Everyone was happy when they got back to the dressing room. Abby did not seem to care that her favorite got tenth, she was happy apparently.
Maddie suddenly started crying, not stopping. Again, her life was falling down on her.
