"Where's Ron?" Hermione asked in a hushed voice whilst trying her best to ignore the blatantly rude stares coming from peers of all houses, but mostly the Gryffindors. Even more specifically, Gryffindor females. Ginny shrugged and put a spoon of apple sauce in her mouth. "I haven't seen him since yesterday morning. He looked kind of upset though." She stabbed all of the food on her plate and turned a pink shade once she realised that each stare was probably some individual who witnessed her kiss with Harry in the corridor.
She mentally palmed herself in the forehead. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. How could they possibly be so careless. She eyed Harry suspiciously, who was unbeknownst to all of this. "What?" He said with a curled eyebrow. "Do I have something on my face?"
"No," she replied, attempting to converse with him without causing any more assumptions to be made about them. Even if the assumptions would be right. "It's just... I think people saw us the other day."
"Saw us the other day... doing what?" He asked. Hermione rolled her eyes. He was absolutely clueless.
"Saw us snogging?" She said softly, as though it was barely audible. Harry looked at her, then to the other students, who had resumed their conversations.
"Okay? And?"
"I mean..it's fine. I don't care if they saw us. I just.. I thought we were going to keep all of this quiet for now. At least until we told Ron and Ginny." Hermione said with her head down.
"I don't have to tell Ginny anything." Harry said shortly. "And quite frankly, it's really no one's business but ours."
"I know. But still, it just feels weird to have to whole school know in just a matter of days. We shouldn't have been doing that in plain sight anyway." Harry was no longer looking at her, and had now focused his attention on Draco Malfoy, who was making a quick and stealthy exit out of the Great Hall. "Harry? What's wrong?"
He snapped back to her, and his eyes gleamed with a hint of worry. "I have to follow him. Can't explain, I'll be right back. Just stay here, okay?"
Hermione murmured an 'okay' in reply, by which time Harry was already halfway out of the room, moving twice as fast than Malfoy was. Hermione's eyes followed him for only a second before she resumed to picking at the remains of her breakfast. One by one, she could feel the seething stares burn into her peripheral vision, but found that she was too embarrassed to look up from her plate. It was as if a piece of her was actually ashamed of her actions. She loved spending time with Harry and she loved the way he managed to make her feel. But a small part of her could not help but wonder how wrong she was. After all, most people did see Harry and Hermione as siblings. Which would mean, their recent activities would be nothing short of incest.
Also, she knew that there was too much going on for them to stay in their perfect little bubble for long. Hermione soon found that she had been staring off into her plate for several moments when Parvati and Lavender approached her suddenly, both with giddy expressions on their faces. "Yes?" Hermione said as politely as possible, but was slightly agitated that someone had interrupted her from her deep thoughts.
"We just wanted to know if the rumours were true." Parvati said with a smirk.
"What rumours?" Hermione asked, although she was internally groaning to herself as she knew what they would be.
