Harry was alone. The old floors creaked below him as he walked. The air that he breathed was no longer contaminated with the smell of the Dursley's. They were gone. Half of the people that Harry has ever loved are gone, never to return from the world.
Harry could name them all, right now. But just the thought of his lost family members made him want to vomit. And the worst part, they all died for him.
Although, he knew that keeping their memories in the back of his mind was only wounding him more, but it was extremely hard to let go.
And now, as Harry was roaming through the house, he passed by his old room. Dare he say, cupboard. He opened to beat up door and cringed at the memories that lie behind these doors. He searched for the string that connected to a dull light bulb, and pulled it slightly. A small light erupted, and Harry could see the amount of respect he received as a child. None.
Although the pain was inevitable, a smile crept onto Harry's face when he saw the little knight on his horse, the one he always used to play with. I fiddled the toy around his fingers before setting it down, beginning to move on to the next horse.
All of a sudden, as if everything happened so fast, he heard the familiar sound of an engine rumbling outside.
He knew that sound from anywhere. But it couldn't be. Not possible. Never. He shut off the light and closed the small cupboard door, and reached for his wand that is stuffed into his back pocket. He wasn't scared. He had a hint of who it was, but wasn't exactly sure if it was a stray death eater.
Being extremely curious, Harry made slow, silent steps towards the door, and could feel the suspense radiating off of the distance between the engine rumbling, and himself.
He touched the doorknob and shivered. He's been in this house for days, yet he hasn't gone outside or even inched close to the door.
He used his little arm strength to twist the doorknob and pull slightly, and grinned once he saw a corner of the person standing in front of him.
"Ello 'Arry!" Hagrid bellowed, followed by a stomach shaking laugh. Harry doesn't have anytime to react because Ron bursts through the little space between Hagrid and the door, and pins Harry to the ground.
Though in much pain, he hugs Ron back and grins. "Okay, yeah," Harry is able to make back in a matter of seconds.
"Oh, Ron. Get off of him!"
Harry's spine tingled at the voice. From then, everything happened in a slow motion. Ron sighs and a dramatic weight is released off of Harry, and he can see what's above him. Eyes as brown as chocolate, hair that slides over her shoulders and tickles Harry's nose. I smile that is so bright it knocked Harry back into the real world.
He was so caught in day dreaming that he didn't even notice that Hermione had extended her arm, waiting for him to take it so she could help him to his feet.
Everything was silent, and awkward because of the tension of Ron and Hermione. There was something going on, there was.
Harry snapped into reality and grabbed Hermione's hand. "Thanks." He breathed.
She rolls her eyes and envelopes him in a large hug, that lasted a very long time. As much as Harry didn't want her to pull away, she did, and kissed his cheek. It was more like the very corner of his mouth, the very tip of his lines, either way, it sent fireworks exploding in Harry's mind.
Harry looked at Hermione, Hermione looked at him. He couldn't be happier, to see the girl he has loved, after all this time. Always.
