A prime minister is calling me right now. This is exactly how I imagined my day. How did I get caught up in all this?

"Can you please hold on for a sec?"
"Of course."

I call Nakano over, telling her that the prime minister was on the phone.

"Hello?" She says.
"Oh, princess! I'm so glad you're safe!" He says in a joyful tone.
"Prime Minister Kai! I haven't heard from you in a while."
"I apologize for that princess. I've been preoccupied with keeping the king safe."
"Of course. How is my father?"
"He's fine. The guards are constantly watching over him so there's no need to worry about him. What I do worry about is you, princess."
"Me? Why is that?" She says in a confused tone.
"I heard from the king that you are staying in a dungeon."
"Yes, I am." The princess says.

I feel like I know where this is going.

"You should not be affiliated with that dungeon keeper and you certainly shouldn't be staying in a dirty old dungeon. If you wish, I could send a squadron there to pick you up and return you to the castle where it's safe."
"..."

I have to admit, I am quite pissed at him but that guy makes a valid point. The princess shouldn't be staying here, with someone like me. I totally understand if she wants to-

"No."

Eh?

"I won't go back."
"Hold on, Nakano. Are you sure, you want to stay here? I mean, I think he's making some valid points, y'know?" I say, trying to make a point.
"What seems to be the matter?" Mizuha suddenly says to us. She most probably overheard our conversation.
"Mizuha, the prime minister is on the line and he's telling her that you guys should return to the castle but the princess is refusing to do so. Can you try to convince her that maybe she should go back?" I say.
"Eh, why? I agree with the princess. We should stay here."
"Eh... why? Don't you not like how dirty it is in here and how I've told you to work in the dungeon and you know I'm not as rich as the king." I say.
"Aito-san, we've never cared about any of that. If we did, we already would've left. When you saved us from Hunter, me and the princess not only knew of your immense strength but we also knew that we could fully trust you with our lives." Mizuha said.
"Not only that, Aito-sama. This is also the most fun we've ever experienced in a long time and I'm sure that Yuuki agrees with me too." The princess says.
"Indeed, I've had a wonderful time being with you, Aito-san." Mizuha said with absolute sincerity.

My cheeks then blushed. Mizuha, realizing what she had just said made her blush redder than me.

"I-I didn't mean it like that! I just meant that- um, you know, helping you and training with you, ah- what am I saying?" She says, flustered.

So these girls really enjoy it here, huh? That's surprising, well I can't say I'm not happy about that.

"Well if you guys want to stay, then I can't say no. Glad to have you." I say in a bashful tone with a smile on my face.

The girls then smile back at me. It seems that they're pretty happy.

"Did you hear that, Prime Minister? We are not leaving." The princess says.
"I see... I can't say that I'm not disappointed. I'll make sure to say hi to your father for you."
"Thank you."
"Oh? It seems that I need to take my leave for now. I have some business to go through." He says.
"Is that so? Then this is farewell."
"For now, princess. I wish you safety and until we meet again." He says before he hangs up.

Well, that's the end of that. That definitely surprised me in more ways than one.

"Looks like I'll be having you guys for a longer time, huh?"
"Yes, please take care of us!"
