It was the day I was supposed to watch Ariana. It was also Jake’s first day of school. I wore a grey sweater with a black lace heart and black skinny jeans. I went over to Jake’s house around 7 and Jake was just getting ready to leave for school. 

“Wish me luck, Dani” Jake said, greeting me at the door.

“Good luck Jakey” I said.

Jake got in his car and left and I went inside.

“Hey Ariana! How are you?” I said.

“Good. Can you give me a nickname like you gave Jake?” she asked.

“Oh of course” I said, picking her up and holding her on my hip.

“Oh, Danielle you’re here. How are you sweetie?” Stacy asked.

“I’m great. How are you?” I asked, smiling.

“Are you and my son dating?” Stacy asked, bluntly.

“Umm... no, I- uh- we’re just friends.” I said, feeling really awkward.

“Alright, well, I’m going to get going. You be good, Ariana. Listen to what Danielle says.” Stacy said, gathering her stuff.

“Bye mommy” Ariana said.

We went up to Ariana’s room to hang out.

“So, about this nickname of yours, what do you think” I said, sitting next to Ariana on the floor.

“I don’t know, but can I call you Dani like Jake does?” she asked.

“Of course, and I think I’m going to call you Ari. What do you think of that?” I asked.

She had a huge smile on her face.

“I love it” she yelled.

Jakes POV

It was my first day at my new school. I walked in the front doors of the school, almost everybody staring. A bunch of the girls were trying to get my attention and trying to flirt with me, but I wasn’t interested. I made my way to the front office. When I walked in I saw the secretary at the desk. I walked up to the desk and told her my name. She gave me my schedule and told me to sit down while she called for the principle to meet me.

“Hello, Mr. Reynold, welcome to our school. Our top student Sarah will be showing you around for the first week.” The principle said.

I really hope it isn’t the Sarah that Dani used to be friends with. 

“Hi I’m Sarah” she said. God, she sounded fake.

“Yeah, can you just show me where my locker is” I said, rudely.

“Okay” she said, sounding confused. I didn’t really care, though, she is the one that hurt Dani.

She showed me to my locker then she left. I saw Mikey across the hall so I decided to go over and say hi.

“Hey dude” I said, walking up to him.

“Hey, man, how’s your first day?” Mikey asked.

“As good as it could be I guess.” I said.
