Chapter 7

I woke up to the smell of food cooking in the kitchen. I looked at the time, it was 5:30. I was supposed to go home at 4 when Stacy got back. Why didn’t she wake me up?

I just then noticed Jake’s arm wrapped around my body. His eye was black and blue and his lip was swollen. I slowly lifted his arm off of me, trying not to wake him, but he woke up.

“Hey” he said, his eyes still half closed.

“How are you feeling” I said getting a better look at his face.

“Like shit” he moaned.

“Do you want me to bring your dinner up to you?” I asked.

“Yes, please, and don’t tell her about me getting into a fight. She doesn’t need to know yet.” He said.

 I went downstairs to get Jake a plate. I told Stacy he just wasn’t feeling very well. She asked me if I could stay the night to help her with Ari in the morning and I agreed. Maddi said it was fine as well. I brought Jake his dinner and sat down.

“Thanks” he said, his voice was really scratchy.

“Thanks for everything” he said.

“You’re welcome” I said, laying my head on his shoulder “I’m staying the night tonight, by the way”

We just sat and watched TV for a little while, until Jake fell asleep again. I just went on my phone for a little while.

Stacy came up and asked if Jake was feeling better. Thank goodness she couldn’t see his face by the way he was laying. She left and went to bed. I fell asleep around 10.

I woke up to Jake whispering for me to wake up in my ear.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, rolling over to look at him.

“I’ve been up for an hour and I can’t sleep” he responded.

“Well what time is it?” I asked.

“2” he mumbled.

“And why would you wake me up?” I asked.

“I need a cuddle buddy, obviously” he said.

“Fine” I said.

He grabbed my hips lightly and pulled me against him. I rested my forehead in his chest and he wrapped his arm around me.

About a half an hour later, I was still laying in his arms, but I couldn’t sleep. I felt him kiss the top of my head thinking I was asleep. Then he went to sleep, soon after that I fell asleep.

I woke up at 6 am to the sound of Jakes alarm doing off. I was still laying in Jakes arms.

“Jake, you have to get up for school” I said, shaking his arm slightly.

“Can you drive me, I’m too tired to drive” he moaned.

“I guess, but you have to get up and get ready” I said, hopping off his bed. He got out of bed and went to his bathroom. I decided to go to the kitchen and make him breakfast. Stacy was eating a bowl of cereal when a came down.

“Do you want me to clean up a little bit today” I asked, going to the cupboard. I usually cleaned the house when I babysat because it usually resulted in getting paid more and it gave me something to do when I wasn’t busy watching the kid.

“Oh sweetie if you could, that would be great.” She said, smiling brightly.

“I was thinking, maybe Ariana and I could go to the park or something today. Maybe she can make some friends.” I said, putting waffles in the toaster for Jake.
