I ring the door bell multiple times out of habit. Usually Liam opens the door by the 7th ring. But today, he opened it by the 2nd. I haven't seen Liam since yesterday, after school. After my encounter with Cameron in the lunch room, I skipped the rest of school. Cameron just brought back so many memories that I tried to stuff deep down inside of me.
Liam's face lit up when he saw me standing on the porch.
"Carmen! I thought you died! Why didn't you call me when you ditched school? You know I would've skipped with you," He says, frowning slightly as he took a step closer. I sigh and rest both of my hands on his broad shoulders.
"It's okay, amigo. I'm obviously not dead and I kinda wanted some alone time when I ditched school. Otherwise, I would've called you without hesitation," I reassured him. He smiled and I dropped my hands to my sides.
Liam steps out onto the porch, closing the door behind him. Liam hates when I go inside because both of his parents were drunks 24/7. Well, his mom was in jail and his dad was a fucking crackhead. I've noticed fresh bruises on Liam's face when ever he came to school. They weren't that noticeable though. I've never dared to tell anyone about them though.
"What was bothering you yesterday? You seemed pretty upset after your encounter with Cameron Storm in the lunch room," Liam asks warily. I bit my lip and hesitated. I never told Liam about Cassia and Cameron's relationship. He knows about Cassia of course because he knew her at the time. He just doesn't know exactly how she died. I trust Liam with my life but there are some things that I don't like to talk about out loud or else I'll break down. So I just don't talk about it. I'll tell Liam some day though.
Liam grabs my face in his hands, forcing me to look at him.
"Hey, you can tell me anything. You know I love you," he whispered. Before you get any ideas, It was in a friendly way. Liam and I have nothing romantic between us. We're just so close that we tell one another that we love each other. Like family. The seriousness in his face was killing me. I suddenly burst out in laughter and he removes his hands from my face. Liam tilts his head in confusion.
"What?" he asks, his lips twitching up. His eyes flickered across my face, trying to figure out why I was laughing.
"Nothing, nothing," I say smothering my chuckles as if it were left over flames from camp fire.
"Right now isn't the time to explain everything, Liam. I came here to ask you to come with me to Cameron Storm's house." As soon as the words left my mouth, I slapped myself. The statement was not at all subtle enough. Liam blinks once and frowns. The look on his face was unreadable.
"Why the hell are you going to Cameron Storm's house?? If this is a booty call, I definitely don't want to be there. In fact, If it's a booty call, you shouldn't g-"
"Liam! It's not a booty call, stupid head," I punch his arm, "I just want to...talk to him and I don't want to go alone." Liam rubs his arm, making a pained face.
"Yeah, fine, fine, sure," Liam waved his hand and rolled his eyes, "But I'm driving." he pulled out his keys and jingled them in my face.
"Fine," I said smiling. I grabbed his hand and we ran to the car.

"Daammnn, this is one big ass house," I mutter as I trailed behind Cameron. I hear him chuckle and look back, at Liam and I, over his shoulder. I was too busy gawking at the huge mansion to notice Liam's exaggerated eye roll.
