Kayla screams over the phone and I hold it back from my ear so that I don't go def. I had just told her about that party and the whole Liam situation. I dig through my closet to find something to wear while Kayla talks my ear off on the phone. Liam said that he'd pick me and Kayla up in 30 minutes to take us to Cameron's party.
"Kay, can i hang up? I need to get dressed now and I can't focus with you screaming in my ear," I chuckle, frowning at a green sweater that I picked up. I quickly toss it back into the closet.
"Yeah yeah, sure. Liam's gonna get me in like 5 minutes so I better get going too. See ya in a few!" She says and hangs up a second later. I toss my phone on my bed and turn back to the closet.
After a while, I ended up throwing on blue skinny jeans with a big jeweled belt, a white tank top and a plain maroon flannel to go over it. I left the flannel unbuttoned and rolled up the sleeves to my elbows. I curl my hair and leave it down so that dark brown curls cascaded down my back. I only put on a little makeup, making it as light as possible.
As soon as I'm finished, I hear a honk outside. I peek through my window to see that Liam was sitting in the driveway. I smile and skip down the stairs. As I go to put my heels on, my father stops me with his arms crossed and his lips in a tight line.
"And where do you think you're going?" He demanded, blocking my way to the door. I pause after slipping into one heel.
"A party," I reply, slipping my foot into the other heel and strapping it.
"Where?" His eyes burned into me, making me wasn't to curl up into a ball.
"At Cameron Storm's mansion. All the kids are going," I say, regretting the words as they slip out of my mouth. His eyes narrow.
"Do you not remember our talk last night after Liam told us that the Storm boy was here?" He said, raising his voice a little bit more. I bit my lip. I did remember. After Liam left, my parents and I had a serious talk and they forbid me to go anywhere near Cameron.
"Yes I remember, dad. I'm not going to go near him. I'm hanging out with Kayla and Liam the whole time. Liam hates Cameron so there's no way he'll let me go near him anyway," I say, running a hand through my hair. My father looks away from me and shakes his head, his face going blank.
"Just remember that he was the guy who put your sister in danger. It's his fault that she's no longer with us," he spat, his voice cracking at the last part. His eyes flicker across my face before pushing past me and disappearing up the stairs. Tears form in the corner of my eyes but I quickly blink them away. No need to ruin the night with crying. Breathing in deeply, I walk out of my house and approach Liam's car. Kayla immediately sticks her head out of the back window and waves. I wave back and hop into the passenger seat. Before buckling up, I lean over to kiss Liam's cheek.
"Aye, I'm not gonna be third wheeling tonight am I?" Kayla speaks up from the back seat. I turn my head as Liam starts to drive away from the house.
"No. You're not," I say, sending her a wink. She pops her lips.
"Good. Cause' that would suck." She leaned back in her seat. Her hair was nice and curly today, as always. I always wished I had her hair. It was big, beautiful and puffy. Her light chocolate skin was really clear too. Kayla was easily one of the most beautiful girls in the school. Today, she had on a dark blue tight no strap dress that reached her mid thighs. A huge belt that was full of jewels, clung tightly around her small waist.
"Who else thinks that going to this party is a bad idea?" Liam speaks up, his eyes trained on the road.
"Well I for one, think that it's a good idea because we get to see Cameron freaking Storm! But it's also a bad idea because Hailey will no doubt keep him all to herself," Kayla says in a bitter tone.
