I lift my hands to cover my face, bracing for the impact of his fist hitting my face but for some reason, it never came. Slowly, I uncover my face and open my eyes so see Liam standing in front of me, with his hand crushing Clayton's fist. Clayton's face was twisted in pain as Liam's knuckles turned white from the pressure that he was applying.I stare in shock and look over at Cameron who was standing beside with with a frown on his face. I lay a hand on Liam's arm and he looks down at me. I shake my head, silently telling him to let go of Clayton. Liam narrows his eyes, looking like he wanted to argue but eventually he let go. Clayton shook his hand and winced in pain before looking back up at Liam.
"You're freaking crazy!" he shouted, looking at Liam with so much hatred.
"And you're dumb as fuck if you actually think I give a damn," he shot back with no emotion in his voice. Rory stood beside Clayton, shifting his eyes around, looking for a way out of the situation.
"Now tell me and don't lie," Liam started, getting in Clayton's face," were you planning on punching a girl in the face?" He kept his voice steady. Clayton tried his best to keep a steady face but he couldn't even keep eye contact with Liam who was legit staring him down. Clayton hesitated but nodded his head. Liam scoffed.
"You're a goddamn women beater, huh? Such a coward. Only cowards hit women, you're no real man," he chuckled at the last part. Liam's dad had a history of hitting his wife, Liam's mother. But Liam was too young to remeber most of it, but he gets angry when he hears about men hitting women because it makes him think of his parents. I bit my lip and held onto Cameron's arm. I didn't like the tone of Liam's voice. It was dark, full of venom. Clayton swallowed and suddenly narrowed his eyes, gaining back some courage.
"You don't know me," he said in a deep voice. Liam scoffed again.
"Yeah I do. You're just the typical high school bully. Getting mad enough to fucking punch a girl in the face!"
Clayton clenched his jaw and scrunched up his nose. Suddenly, he jutted out an arm and yanked me away from Cameron. I yelp in pain as his grip got tighter. He held me close to him, staring at Liam the whole time. Liam's face didn't change, though he still seemed to look more scary than before. He glanced at me for a split second before smirking at Clayton.
"You think you're so tough. When really, you're a weak little boy with an abusive father," Clayton spat. Clayton pulled out something from his pocket and put it up to my neck. A knife. I try to steady my heart and breathing but it seemed impossible. All Clayton had to do was swipe my neck once and It'd be over for me. I look at Liam who stared at me. His face was blank but only I could read his eyes. He was terrified for me. And then he did something one one saw coming.
In one swift motion, he yanked out a black gun from the back of his pocket and held it up to Clayton's forehead. Clayton froze. Everyone froze. The people around us froze. Luckily, there were only a few other people outside. The party was mostly inside. But the spectators who were watching us, also froze, jaws to the floor. I knew what people were thinking. They were doubting Liam. They think that he won't shoot. But I know for certain, he will. Liam doesn't play around. While people like Clayton are all bark no bite, Liam is all bite. 100 percent.
I look up at Liam who had his eyes locked with Clayton who was surprisingly not quivering at the fact that there was a gun to his head. He stared right back at at Liam and swallowed.
"You're crazy!" he repeated multiple times. Liam snarled and rolled his eyes, which were dark and wild.
"Yeah yeah, I heard you the first time," he muttered. Cameron stood beside Liam, sucking his bottom lip and darting his eyes back and forth from me to Liam to Clayton and back again.
