Chapter Five - New York
The fifth note was titled New York, and Diana knew it was written two months after the last one.
It has been two months since I had seen Diana. I went two months with out talking to her. Why? Cause I'm an idiot. Because after the bar I didn't want to be the first to call her, and she apparently had the same thought. But, today I ran into her, literally. I was walking down the streets of New York, and I crashed right into her. It was like something out of a cliché book and normally, I'd laugh at how ridiculous it was, but I was too happy to do anything but hug her. "Calum," she said. "Diana," I said back, mimicking her tone of voice. She asked me 'what the hell was I doing.' Which, I guess, makes sense. I hadn't seen her for two months and here I was hugging her like we were a couple. "I don't know," I said, "I just missed you." She laughed at that. Then she asked how the girl from the bars lips tasted. I asked the same about the boy. She smacked me then said, "I wouldn't know. I didn't kiss him." Then I said, "well the girls lips tasted like sour beer and drunk sweat. However, I bet yours would taste much better." I didn't give her a chance to say anything, I just leaned in and kissed her. She said we have a lot to talk about. I said let's not talk about it, let's forget it. She kissed me back. It felt right, but it also felt too good to be true. And I knew I was hiding almost everything from her and I knew she was probably hiding something too--because a girl like her is too interesting to not have any secrets. I promised myself I would tell her everything, soon.
The photo attached to the note was of the metropolitan subway station, where they had ran into each other. Diana smiled at the note, but she knew the next note would make her cry--a lot. She knew that disaster one was coming, it was going to be in the next few notes. It was sad, really, that they had so many 'disasters' that she had to start numbering them. If only she could've prevented them all.
