Virgil stood up and went to the door, unfazed that it was locked. Sighing out of frustration, he lightly punched the door, barely even enough to make a noise.
When he used to live here, the others would make fun of him, make him feel alone, harm him... Deceit would always tell him everything was okay, and that he was getting hurt for good reasoning, he knew it was all lies. Depression would visit him sometimes and would tell him how worthless he was, and how he'd never be loved because he was the odd one out of a bunch of "normals". Depression tried to make Virgil cut himself, but Virgil never did. That was crossing the line for him.
When Adrian, Emerson, Deceit, Remus, and Isaac were the only ones living with him at the time, Guilt would sometimes sneak in and slip into Virgil's room. He was Virgil's only friend... He was the only one who showed him sympathy, and... He loved him like a brother of his own... Maybe that's because they are brothers.
Braxton has always been a great brother to Virgil... He never treated him like the other Dark Sides did... He was a true brother. One that would always be by your side. He missed him...
Suddenly, the door opened and Adrian was at the door. "C'mon. The others are outside," he said. Adrian always reminded Virgil or Roman- mainly from their ego. Pride is definitely something Princey had, but with Adrian, it was different.
Virgil sighed and got up. As he left the room, he looked down at the band on his wrist. When he looked up, he noticed it was a lot brighter in there than it's ever been before.
"Welcome home, Virge," Deceit said, walking over to him, a genuine smile on his face. "I cannot begin to tell you how much we've missed you..."
He seemed... Sincere... Which was off for Deceit... He was always lying and sarcastic as ever. Never... This...
Virgil narrowed his eyes at Deceit, about to confront him about his new attitude, when the other Darks swarmed up to him.
"It's been forever, Virgil!" Isaac said, beaming up at Virgil. It was a little unnerving seeing how much Isaac and Patton were alike. It began to break his heart, thinking about the moral side... Virgil always thought of Patton as a little brother, but also like a dad, but at the same time. He never could understand that though.
"Why are you guys suddenly nice?" Virgil asked, stepping away a bit. "Last time I checked, you all were animals... Jerks... Evil people... The NEGATIVE sides...!"
"Yes, well... We've had our... Differences in the past... But we're willing to change our ways if you can accept us too?" Deceit asked, his smile fading a bit, a hurt expression on his face.
Isaac looked at Virgil, pouting. "Pleaseeeeeee Virge? We can be a family again! And this time, we'll be better! We all promise!!!"
Virgil tried to look away from the pouting face but Isaac followed his gaze. Virgil sighed in a bit of frustration. "Fine... But if I find out this is all fake... I'm leaving for good... And I'll make sure that none of you will reach me or my real family ever again..." Virgil said. He turned to go back to his room but Isaac hugged him quickly, making him stop in his tracks.
Something in him wanted to hug the boy back, but the other half told him not to. He didn't listen, instead, he hugged Isaac back, tightly.
Pretty soon, Adrian and Emerson joined the hug, both smiling.
Zane and Andre came into the room soon after, stopping next to Deceit. Deceit looked at them and nodded his head toward the hugging group. The trio went over to them and joined the bug soon after.
Virgil at first thought this was going to overwhelm him, but... It didn't. In fact, it made him feel all warm inside... He felt... Like he actually was home...
No...
This isn't his home...
His family is the sweet, kind hearted Patton, the nerdy, Microsoft Nerd, Logan, and the daring, egotistical, handsome Roman... And Thomas... They... Are his true family...
But this felt... Right... To him.
Being loved by others...
This compassion...
It felt nice to him.
When the hug dispersed, Virgil saw a familiar face standing in the doorway, absolutely beaming from happiness.
"Virgil?!?!"
"Braxton?!?!"
The two brothers ran at each other and enveloped each other in a tightly embraced hug. Tears were now streaming down Virgil's cheeks, which was something he'd never do. In public. Virgil would only cry himself to sleep every night, but that was it. But seeing his brother after all this time... He was feeling emotional.
"I thought I'd never see you again, Brax," Virgil mumbled quietly, through the hug.
"Same, dude..." Braxton said, letting go of him. "I really missed you... I've gotten really lonely without you..."
"Why don't the two of you catch up while I make us something to eat, hm?" Deceit said, taking them to sit on the couch. Then he went to the kitchen, followed by Zane.
"So you really think this'll work?"
"Positive. It's already working," Deceit said to Zane, grabbing a pot from the cabinet. He sat it on the stove and turned to him. "We just have to get him to trust us and think of us as the new family. Then, he will do whatever we ask, even if it means truly becoming Paranoia again. But don't call him that, for now. Call him Virgil."
Zane nodded. "Alright, Damion, if you're sure this will work, I trust you. But if it does work, I want to start our plan corrupting ALL of the Light Sides... Including Virgil."
"I do too. But patience is a virtue. It's the key component to revenge. It will take a bit of time, but in the end, it'll all be worth it..."
"You're diabolical."
"And that's why you love me," Deceit said.
"Loved. We're exes now," Zane corrected him. "You seem to forget that."
"Oh, no, I've never forgotten. It's called being deceitful. It's what I'm good for. You seem to forget that as well."
"Forget that? No, of course not. How can I forget you cheating on me with Paranoia, hm? Yes, that was YEARS ago, but I never forgot! And neither will he..." Zane said, walking out of the kitchen. "Ta-ta, catch you later."
"Don't fall off an imaginary cliff..." Deceit hissed under his breath as he began making food.
