Third Person View/ Patton's POV

Patton was sitting on his bed, bored out of his mind. He had very little to do, and so much time to waste. He was tempted to hang out with one of the others, but noticed Virgil and Roman were asleep in their own rooms while Logan was reading to himself in his room. So, he really didn't have much to do.

When Thomas was little, him and Patton were like best friends in ways. They communicated the most. At that time, he kind of knew Logan and Roman, but not on a friend basis. They were more like acquaintances, and Virgil hasn't fully developed yet as a Side. He came in the picture during Thomas's middle school years and throughout high school. Patton would always try to keep Thomas happy and smiling, but as he got older, it got a lot harder. Especially through that embarrassing emo phase he suffered through. But... Patton didn't like talking about that disaster.

As he was clouded in his own thoughts, A soft knock sounded on his door. He assumed it was Logan or one of the others, so he opened the door, smiling brightly. Hi smile faltered when he saw who it really was.

"What- what are you d-doing here?!"

Emerson walked in Patton's room, smirking. Not even turning toward the door when he was inside, he closes the door, locking it behind him. His eyes never looked away from Patton's.

"Morality. What a surprise to see you here so soon. I see you're all getting some relaxation. Oh, I'm so jealous."

"What do you want?!" Patton asked, stepping back even more. He tried not to stutter.

"Oh, just to start our plan. I'm sure you would love to hear what we have in store for you and your Light Side friends," Emerson said, taking closer steps to Patton.

Patton was against the wall now, but he still had places to escape to if needed. "Wh-what do you mean?"

Four more people teleported into his room. Isaac, from earlier, Adrian, Thomas's pride, Remus, and- his eyes widened at the sight of Deceit.

"Wh-what are you all doing here and what do you wa-want?!" Patton stood his ground as much as he could, but he was truly terrified.

Deceit walked up to him, smiling evilly. "We've come to take back what is ours, and ours alone."

"We don't have anything of yours... If we did, we'd give it back."

"You do have something... And no, you wouldn't. I assure you."

"Wh-what is it..?"

"Oh, I can't say. You'll jus have to be surprised when it's gone..." Deceit said, turning away from him.

"Please... Tell me... What is it you want...?"

"Promise me one thing first... You have to promise, no matter what, that you'll give it to me, even if it upsets you that it's gone. Do you promise?" Deceit asked, holding his hand out.

Patton smiled, nodding. He took his hand and shook. "I promise you. Cross my heart."

"Alright then... The thing we want is Anxiety."

Patton's face paled as his blood ran cold. His eyes widened and he looked at Deceit with a look of horror. "N-no... You're not taking any of my friends away from m-me..."

"Do I need to quote what you just said? I said you had to promise you'd give it to me. No. Matter. What. And what did you say? 'I promise you. Cross my heart.' So I believe that means I win. You lose, Patton. You can go tell the others of the misfortune. We'll be back tonight at midnight. And if you tell this to Thomas, you'll be sorry. Goodbye, Morality." And with that, he was gone, along with Remus, who grinned like a demented moron, while Adrian and Emerson smirked as they left. Only Isaac lingered a bit longer, smiling as he waved at Patton. Then he was gone too.

Patton just stood there, fighting back the tears as much as he could, but after a few minutes, he couldn't take it anymore. Tears gushed down his face like a waterfall and he sat on the floor, crying his eyes out as he hid his face in his hands.

Someone knocked on the door, but Patton couldn't speak at the moment, so the person tried opening the door, but it was still locked. Virgil then teleported in Patton's room, unlocking the door. He caught a glimpse of the crying Patton and almost sprinted over to him. He was full of worry. "Patton? Is everything okay..?"

"N-no... I made a-a terrible m-mistake.... And I'll n-never forgive my-myself for it..." Patton enveloped Virgil in a tightly embraced hug, and it caught the emo off guard, but he hugged back, with an equal amount of force.

"Hey now... Don't talk like that... Just... Take deep breaths and tell me what happened..."

Patton explained everything to him, and Virgil's eyes were just as wide as Patton's were. He was even paler with the foundation on, if that was even possible.

"He tricked me... A-and Deceit said they'd b-be back for you at mi-midnight... I-i'm so sorry... Th-this is all m-my fault..." Patton said, trying hard to calm down, but it worked him up even more. Virgil pulled away from the hug and looked his friend in the eyes.

"Patton, this isn't your fault. I promise you it's not. That's exactly what Deceit does... He's a snake at heart- and he doesn't even have a heart. None of them do... And I used to not have one.. But being with you guys made me realize I still do, even if it's small," he said smiling a bit. He brushed some of his hair out of his face as Patton looked up at him, beaming. He wiped his tears away.

"That's what friends are for, Virge," Patton said to him as they stood up.

"Thanks, Pat."

"Anytime, kiddo."
