I pull away slowly holding Zayn at arms length and smile back when he smiles at me. He moves away from my arms and walks back into the living room, leaving me alone in the kitchen with my thoughts. Returning the pack of sweets to the fridge, I sit down on the nearest stool and continue to chop the carrots Joe had started with.
Wordlessly, I let my mind wander through out the events of the day. I really sucked at my math test and I really need help. The only thing was that none of my so called friends were passing it either but as usual, none of them were bothered because they were all filthy rich and could afford any school they wanted to go to. I on the other hand had been desperately trying to get a scolarship into the Frontowers university who had generously offered 5 scolarships to our school for the brightest students.
Tenth grade was slowly comming to an end. In about two months, we would be let out for summer holidays and I was really excited. I couldnt wait for the extremely hot sun and the new tan I was getting ready for. Being in year eleven finally marked my senior years and I couldnt wait till I graduated highschool.
I stood up from the stool and dropped the neatly diced carrots into the hot stew. I fetched a wooden spoon and mixed the red liquid before letting a drop fall into my hand to taste it.
I covered up the pot to let the carrots boil and went into the sitting room to meet the others.

"Thanks again for letting me stay over man,"Zayn said while picking up his bags.I picked up the dishes from the table, balancing two on each hand as I made my way carefully into the kitchen.
"No problem bro,"I heard my brother reply. I walked out of the kitchen throwing a checkered dish towel over my shoulders and watched as the two of them hugged.
After they pulled apart, Zayn picked up Cindy who gave him a quick peck on the cheek before jumping out of his hands and running to the kitchen to look for my hidden sweets.
"Bye Zayn", I said hugging him lightly. I felt him stiffen at first before he awkwardly wrapped his hands around my smaller frame.
"B-bye Jo-joella", I smiled lightly finding it amusing that he always stuttered when talking to me. Pulling away from him, I watched as my brother led him out the door to drop him home.
I shut the door after them and went to the kitchen to go wash up. I hummed to myself while water streamed through my fingers, scraping the leftover food into the trashcan, yet keeping a watchful eye on Cindy who was scolding her teddy bear for spilling her drink on the floor...yea right!
A few minutes later, I heard the front door slam shut and turned around to see Joe walking towards me. He took an apple from the small fridge and sat down on the stool I had been previously sitting on and stared at me.
"What?", I asked confused. I watched as a smirk made its way to his face as he shook his head with a small raise of his hands, including the one with the apple to show mock surrender. He stood up and walked into the living room leaving me puzzled.
"For God's sake Cidny! What is this mess!" I heard him yell from the kitchen.
"Its not my fault ," she replied. "Blame Mr Rodney!" She shreiked.
I laughed quietly to myself and picked up a dry napkin, wrinsing my hands while turning off the kitchen light. I moved quietly towards the door and held in a laugh at what i saw. The position they were in was beyond hilarious as they stared each other down. Joseph knelt down on the floor with a knee propped up while Cindy stood on her tippy toes glaring him down.
I cleared my throat loudly to get their attention but none of them so much as blinked. I sighed humorously and bent down quickly cleaning up the little puddle of cocoa on the floor.
"Cindy, common its time to take a bath," I said eyeing the clock that said seven pm.
She stood still staring at Joseph ignoring my request. I huffed loudly standing up from the floor and said to Jo, "Whatever, you're in charge of her tonight. Make sure she takes a bath and throw at the bin.Au revoir."I said with a mock bow before leaving.
I jogged upstairs and looked in on mom to find her fast asleep. Taking of my shirt, I went into my room to get my towel and took my black bra off before wrapping up my chest with the towel. I took off my bottoms and walked into the bathroom we all shared. Turning on the shower, I let my towel drop and entered the small cubicle allowing the water to pelt my head, washing of the worries of the day.
