Many months have passed and Jane was ripped away from me to investigate the newborns in Seattle. Alec stayed behind to watch over me but I missed her dearly. But as much as I wanted to throw a tantrum it would only make people grumpy and would do nothing to change the situation.I was lying in bed when Alec entered my room. I was about to go to sleep and just turned off my lights a minute ago. The dark room made it hard for me to see yet I knew it was him. He sat down on the edge of my bed and played with my hair before I slowly grabbed his hand and pulled him down to lay with me. I placed his hand on my heart and rested my own forehead against his chest. Neither of us spoke, we didn't need to. We both missed Jane and we used each other to fill up the emptiness in our hearts.
Slowly I could feel Alec's hand move away from my heart and to my back, pulling me tightly against his chest. Maybe a bit too tight? Yet he didn't soften his grip when I winced. If anything, it seemed to make it worse. He was shaking softly as if he was fighting something and I had a feeling that I knew what it was.
I started humming a soft tune while moving my hands under his cloak and shirt, feeling his strong, cold back against my hands. But the moment our skins touched he tensed once again. I rubbed circles on his back, trying to calm him down and slowly but surely it worked. "Why do you have this effect on us?" His voice was full of emotion, something you don't hear too often.
With a soft sigh I moved myself so my nose was in his neck and I kissed the hard skin. "I have a favor to ask..." "Anything for you." "Wouldn't say that too soon." He moved his face deeper in my hair and took a deep breath. "Soon I will be asked for help and I will accept. I will leave this place for the first time. Will you join me?" He pulled back to stare into my eyes. "As in... betray the Volturi?" I slowly nodded and our noses touched while doing so. "Let... Let me talk this through with Jane. I take it you want to ask her as well?" I would never tear those two apart so I nodded again and this time pressed our noses together afterwards. He could feel my hot breath on his cold lips and I could see it affecting him.
"Then... if you can't promise me, you'll join me... can I have one request for now?" "Anything for you." And with those words I pressed our lips together. His hold on me tightened a little, this time not enough to hurt me. My hands are still on his cold back as I move them up, pulling his shirt up in the process.
As much as I love kissing him, I still needed air and so I pulled away slowly. I'm panting softly but there is a smile on my lips. As I look at him, I can make out that he is frowning. Wanting to know what is wrong I remove one hand from his back and place it on his cheek, making him face me. "Why did you do that?" I tilt my head slightly in response. How was I supposed to respond to that? "Do you... like me? What about Jane?"
Silence fills the room until he breaks it with a small growl. "You do like her, don't you?! Then why play with me like that?!" "Alec..." "Don't play with me Elaine!" "Alec..." "No! Don't say my name with that voice of yours!" He pushes himself off the bed and grabs my dresser while trying to calm down. "Alec! I like... no... I love both of you! I can't choose between you two! How am I supposed to deal with that?!" My throat already hurts from talking so much but now I am even yelling? I must be out of my mind.
"You're just saying that!" He growls again and I move over so I am standing behind him. I know it is dangerous but I wrap my fragile arms around his body, holding him close. "Why would I lie?" He turns around and glares into my eyes. "Because we are too broken to be loved." "Then let me fix you." I wince softly as I place a hand on my throat. Alec's anger turns into worry as he lifts me up and lays me down on the bed once again. "Don't talk so much, silly. Fine... I'll believe it. But you have to confess to Jane yourself and then we'll see what we'll do next, okay?" I nodded at him with a small smile and pulled him down to kiss him again. Thankfully he returned the kiss.
The next morning, I was roughly awoken by two noisy vampires by the names of Felix and Demetri. I throw my pillow at them to shut them up but they just started hitting me with it. "Come on sleepy head! The ice queen wishes to see you. Wake up." I groan loudly and turn over once again. "Don't you wish to speak to me?" Jane's beautiful voice enters the room and I reach out for her without lifting my face from the bed.
She takes my hand and sits down beside me while giggling softly. The two idiots are told to leave the room and Jane lays down beside me. Using her soft voice, she tells me the story of the Cullens and the newborn army. She also told me about a strange scent that she couldn't place but I knew it was probably the wolves.
Only after she finished did I turn over and look at her face. Without warning I pull myself up while pushing her down so I am leaning over her. "What are you doing?" No answer was given. Instead her lips met mine as I kiss her softly. It takes her a few seconds but her response is heavenly. She wraps her arms around me and kisses me back a bit roughly. All too soon do I need to pull away for air and I am a panting mess. It makes her giggle once again.
"What was that for?" I raise an eyebrow at her, asking her if she is stupid. "You can't possibly mean... but I thought that you and Alec... " She stammers and I shut her up with a peck on her cheek. "I love both of you. Alec already knows. The big question is how will you react?" She takes a second before pushing me off of her and rushing out the room. Leaving me behind on my bed while mentally cursing myself.
Not soon after Jane left, did she return with Alec. She threw him into the room like he was a ragdoll, making him fall on the bed beside me. She locked my door and sat down on my other side. Both me and Alec were staring at her, waiting for her next move. We didn't have to wait long.
"You love her?" "Yes... Do you love her?" Jane just nodded her head an turned to face him. "That's a problem, isn't it?" "It doesn't have to be, sis." She tilted her head while I lie back, a smirk on my face. "We'll share her. She loves both of us so why not? We have shared her so far..." "Enough! This is ridicules, absolutely absurd and above all, extremely dangerous for us! Don't you remember who her father is?! She is the princess. We should be lucky enough that she would call us her friends!" Alec placed himself beside me and pulled me against him. "So, you don't want to do this?" He placed his lips against mine for a short kiss before smirking at her. "Like... not even a little bit?" Jane was growling with anger as she pulled him away from me.
"Stop denying it sis. We share our mate and to make it worse we will do anything she asks of us. We always have been attracted to her, one way or another and now I know why." Jane releases her brother with a loud sigh. "Fine... You're right. I would die if she asked me to do so." She sits down beside me with another sigh and hides her face in my hair. "Then there is your answer to what you asked me yesterday, princess."
I wrapped my arms around Jane's body and held her close before reaching out to Alec who happily took my hand in his. Now all I had to do was wait till I got that damn text. Don't worry Edward, nobody will harm your family.
