A baby's first laugh shatters the darkness

The countless hours spent worrying

Multiple jobs and yet still no solution

Many endless nights battling the worry

Alone, no one to help

Losing more hope by each and every passing day

The countless problems stacked high upon the counter

Wondering what was next for her and this poor child

Knowing she was such a failure

Letting the sorrow creep in

But the first sound of joy is a reminder

It brings back the light she forgot was once with her

The clouded fog receded back

The beams of light and laughter chasing away the looming shadow

Such a simple thing was all she needed

Giving extra strength that was not found before

The soft giggles filling in the cracked heart

It gave a reason

The only reason she would ever need

To try even harder

Work even longer

To even go without

Just to hear that beautiful sound once again

To promise to make that happiness continue on

Always and forever
