Waiting at a station,

Not knowing where you'll go.

The mind begins to wander,

Past the rolling hills,

And along the sun lit fields.

Spending no more than forever,

In the humid paradise.

The sun dancing off your skin,

Grass bowing to the steps,

Along your barefoot journey

Needing no such map.

No ponder or thought.

Just the lazy ocean waves,

And the gleaming smile of sunlight.

Alone you wander,

But no loneliness in sight.

For the birds sing the song.

Of your gracious arrival,

As the bugs danced across your toes.

But forever isn't long enough,

As the raspy shout from your carriage builds fear.

The steel rusted and cold,

Gives a sudden warning.

Is it too greedy to want more?

You board the carriage with hopes of a better paradise.

Forgetting the one being left behind.

The chill air pricks your skin,

As the feeling of dread seeps in,

But the warning is beaten down by greed.

The surroundings are a blur,

As the carriage speeds by,

The once smooth road,

Now unstable,

As the wheels bounce off rocks.

WHen the nausea arrived,

You pleaded for the driver to stop.

The beautifully shaped fingers waved you off,

But the speed only increased.

With no sign of stopping.

As your stomach turned in rapid circles,

Dread managed to slip back in,

And put the glasses back on.

Allowing you to see,

That your beautiful driver was Greed,

And you were not going to paradise.

The carriage came halting to a stop,

When you let out a bone chilling cry.

Your back stung, agonizingly, like a thousand little cuts.

Racing from the carriage,

You hoped this was all a dream,

And that paradise really was right around the corner.

Waiting to be found.

But you were left in the darkness of the night.

Maniacal laughter filled the void.

As the carriage rolled away,

You ran after it,

Knowing it was your only way out.

Becoming desperate,

You screamed for help,

But no sound was heard.

Except for chuckles of greed.

You were tricked into hell,

When paradise was in grasp.

Liquid oozing from the wound in your back,

Finally you understand,

Why you were warned.

Greed only does wrong,

But now you must live,

In constant fear.

Fear of the unknown,

For what will happen,

The aching wound a constant reminder.

Thinking you made a friend in greed,

But you are on the bottom step,

And greed is on the top.
