Mercy
One of the most amazing things about having Logan as my boyfriend, is that he's also my best friend. Being that he is my best friend, that means he knows everything about me. He knows all the good, all the bad & everything in between. The best part is, he loves me anyway. I didn't know if he was my forever, but some days it really felt like he was.
The day my sister, Delaney, would have turned thirteen was one of the days that I felt like he could be my forever. Logan & I were hanging out in the media room, but not watching anything on the big screen. Logan was trying to help me think of something to do to honor Delaney the next day. I was scrolling through my photos to see which photo of me & Logan from before we got ready for the Halloween party that I wanted to post on my social media accounts.
I showed Logan a photo on my phone, smiling, "How bout this one?"
He looked at the photo then nodded. "Yea, that's a good one. But they've all been good."
"No, they haven't. I looked high in one of them & you looked pissed in the last one I showed you."
Logan laughed as he stared at his own phone. "Sorry, I thought they looked good. You always look beautiful, so ..." He glanced at me, giving me a look that made me blush. I went back to looking at my phone but I could see Logan was still watching me. "I'm really glad you don't feel guilty about Delaney anymore."
I turned my head, quickly because I was surprised by his statement. "Me, too."
"You're in a much better place now & I'm glad you're here... with me."
"Aww..." I reached up to touch his cheek. "I'm glad, too. And it's really nice to be with someone who knows literally everything about me & still loves me."
"I do love you." He smiled then leaned toward me so I could kiss his lips. Once I pulled my mouth from his, he licked his lips. "Now, let's get back to figuring out what your family can do to honor Delaney tomorrow. "
"I didn't think it would be this hard, but I guess it's because we have done so much already."
"You haven't really been helping." Logan chuckled as he looked back at his phone.
"Sorry, I was in awe of our cuteness, looking through my pictures."
"That Halloween party was a week ago. Didn't you post enough already?"
"I only posted one picture that night."
"Right. Anyway, what about just going on a hike with your family? While you're hiking, you could talk about what it would have been like if Delaney had lived. Maybe stop & carve 'Delaney was here' on a tree." He shrugged his broad shoulders as he leaned back in the chair.
I bit my lip. "I like the carving on the tree thing. I do. Maybe we can do that some time when it's just us. The tree carving thing is a sensitive subject with my parents right now."
"Oh, right." Logan nodded, then pressed his lips together, thoughtfully. "Where was your sister born?"
"At the hospital." I replied, my voice rising in surprise.
He rolled his eyes at me as he clicked his tongue. "I know that, silly. I meant which hospital?"
"Dallas Med, I believe."
"You could go there & cheer up kids."
"It's not a Children's hospital, but I like that idea."
"Maybe you can go to the floor she was on & buy the staff lunch or dinner or something." Logan shrugged.
I sat up & put my arms around his neck as he leaned on his legs. "Okay, you're literally the best. Visiting a hospital is a great way to honor my sister. We used to go with our parents when we were younger, but it's been a while. Thank you for suggesting that."
