Chapter 20: Sand In our Shoes and Glitter In our Hair

Louis' pov

I woke up and found the birthday girl on her phone. She peered over the screen and smiled at me. I took her phone and sat it on the bed side table and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around my neck as I whispered "I love you! Happy birthday!" into her ear. Abby was still clueless about the upcoming party and walk on the beach.

We got ready for school and the whole drive there I was making her guess what I got her for her birthday. She guessed a pony, a Barbie doll, a play house for her Barbie doll and gum. We both laughed and pulled into the parking lot. After she put her hot pink back pack on I wrapped my arm around her waist and walked to the front of the school and waited to be let in by an administrator. I was greeted by my few friends who I kept in touch with when I moved to England and they all said happy birthday to Abby. Harry found his way over with Shawn and they said happy birthday to her.

Rebekah and Liam made their way over and said Happy birthday just before we went into the school. All the birthday love going to Abby made her light up. I couldn't help but smile when she got bubbly and happy when ever someone wished her a happy birthday.

When this girl I didn't know was talking to Abby I saw her reach into her purse, pull out her phone and answer a call. She seemed upset. I walked over and she handed me the phone. The caller Id read Mom I put the phone to my ear and pulled Abby into my chest.

When I answered the phone I said "What." her mom explained that she just wanted to wish Abby a happy birthday and I cut her off and said "She doesn't want to talk to you, good bye." and I hung up. I told Abby just to ignore them and with in a couple months we'll be in our own apartment living a free life. She nodded and we walked to her locker trying to beat the bell.

Once we went to our lockers I walked Abby to her class and then to my home room class. I sat in class and thought about her the whole time.

Abby's pov

All this birthday love made me so happy and for once loved by someone other than Louis. Then it all came crashing down when I got a phone call from my mother. Louis took care of it and walked me to class.

All day I figured the urge to find some corner away from all humanity and cry until I couldn't cry any more. I was so alone even though I had all these people around me.

They didn't get it.

They never heard my screams.

The only one who has and the only one who will is Louis. He's just as broken as I am and he's my glue and I'm his.

We need each other. Without him I'm just a broken pile of glass no one bothers to clean up and everyone just keeps stepping on me, breaking me even more and hurting themselves on me.

With him I'm a beautiful picture frame protecting a beautiful picture called life.

I soon remembered a quote from a song "So please don't judge me and I won't judge you. 'Cause it could get ugly before it gets beautiful." That quote is our relationship it is us. It has gotten ugly but it's on its way to becoming beautiful. The ugly broken glass to the beautiful picture frame. Some day hopefully soon it will become beautiful and stay beautiful.

We met up at lunch and walked around the court yard. Louis and I found a bench in the garden and sat there me drinking coffee, Louis sitting there with an arm around my waist. Here we were beautiful but we were along way from permanently beautiful.

Louis walked me to my fourth period class and then went to his I guess. I sat in my seat and began my science drill. Today we were dissecting frogs which I wasn't all that happy for. We needed a partner and the first person I went to was Harry and he reluctantly agreed. Shawn ended up joining us because there was an odd amount if students which I didn't mind.

In sixth period Louis walks into the class room and says that a counselor needs me sk I get excused from class. He explained to me that I wasn't needed he just wanted to get me home to change and get ready for a surprise. We sneak out the front if the building and I start laughing. Louis looks diwn at me and I say "You're an awful influence on me but I love you anyways." he smiled and said "I love you too baby."

We ran into Zayn's house real quick and I changed into a blue dress with a lace rose pattern, black stockings and knee high black leather boots. I quickly ran a flat iron through my hair and crabbed a navy clutch to put a pad, my phone, lip gloss, gum and some cash in and we were back in the car driving towards the beach.

We grabbed a bite to eat near the water and I soon caught on. When we finished our meals and shared a dessert we took a walk on the beach. His warm hands and fingers laced through mine as we walked along the shore as the sun began to set. It was all I could ever ask for. About an hour or so later he said "If we dont lrave now we'll be late for part two so lets get going." I followed him back to the parked black mustang and asked "What's part two?" Louis looked at me smiled and said " You will soon find out my darling." I shrugged and turned on the radio.

With in a half hour we were parked out frony of a corn maze. Every year growing up we would go to one. I started to smile as we opened our doors and got out of the car. Louis already had our tickets so we handed them to the lady and went inside. As soon as one foot was in the maze I saw some of my best friends and family and they all yelled "Surprise!!" And I literally almost cried. Some aunts and uncles that I haven't seen in forever rushed up to me and started saying how much if a good boyfriend I have and every time I just looked up at him and responded "I sure am lucky." I was told that qll the fun would happen when we reach the end of the maze so everyone followed Louis and I through the maze everyone splitting up at some point.

It was just Louis and I and it was so romantic, in a corn maze at dusk alone finding our way out. Ot sounded like a nightmare but it was perfect. We wern't the first ones back but we wern't the last ones either. When I looked up I saw four familiar looking guys. Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood. Some very talented musicians that went to my high school and we were pretty close friends.

Until everyone got back some friends, a few relatives, Louis and I talked. While we conversed I looked around and saw al of my favorite party foods, a mountain of presents and a roped iff section that says VIP, I'm guessing that's for Louis and I since theres only two chairs. Once everyone was back Shawn and Harry who were wearing all black which I didn't realize earlier, Harry suad "Right this way Miss." And he escorted Louis and I to the VIP section and stood on the othet side of the ropes like body guards. I started to laugh because it was absolutely perfect, everything was just right. Its all I could have ever asked for.

Dance With Me Tonight by Olly Murs started playing on someone's phone and all I wanted to do was dance so I got up and squeezed through Harry and Shawn pulling Louis behind me. We stood in front of the speakers and danced and soon everyone was in their feet dancing. Some of my favorite songs came on and everyone wanted to dance with me so I had to take turns switching out people. First Louis then Harry, Shawn, my aunt Katherine, Michael, Luke, Ash, Cal, Rebekah, Liam until I made it through everyone. Then I just went back to Louis.

My cousin who was around three ran up to Louis and I so Louis picked her up and we walked a little bit away from the speakers and danced wit her while she was in Louis arms. Harry and Shawn went to get us pizza and when they returned my cousin wanted some so I shared my slice with her and I had to feed Louis because she was still in his arms.

My aunt came over to see if we were ok with Taylor, my cousin and we nodded. The next thing she said threw me off a little bit she smiled from ear to ear and said "You guys are the cutest couple and you would amke wonderful parents one day." I thanked her not really knowing what to say. I had never thought about Louis, kids and I at the same time but I let it roll off my shoulders and I kept dancing.

A/n: hey guys I am so sorry for the long wait in the updates but it might have to permanently stay like this unless im on break from school I hope u have been enjoying this as much as I have enjoyed writing it!! More of the party in the next chapter!!! Ily!!

Oh and btw Im creating a new story this week if u wanna read it I will update it soon its called "My Life" it really isnt about my personal life but hey im trying
