Dipper and Bill walked downstairs and into the kitchen. They passed Stan on their way down.

"Hey, Bill is going to stay over to help with a project." Dipper said.

"Ok, if you guys go out just remember me rule." Stan said.

"It's not illegal if you don't get caught." Dipper said for the hundredth time. Stan laughed and patted Dipper on the shoulder.

"I'm proud of you." He said, before walking into the living room.

"Is that normal?" Bill asked.

"I mentioned my Grunkle was a con artist right?" Dipper said, before cracking a smile. Bill just laughed and followed Dipper into the kitchen.

Ford sat at the table, reading a newspaper. As Dipper and Bill walked in, Ford looked up.

"Welcome home from school, who's your friend?" Ford asked.

"Great Uncle Ford, this is Bill. Bill, this is my Great Uncle Ford." Dipper introduced the two. They shook hands.

"Nice to meet you, any friend of Dipper's is welcome here." Ford said.

"Thank you sir, it's night to meet you as well," Bill said.

"Is Stan making dinner tonight?" Dipper asked Ford. Ford shook his head.

"Soos is picking up pizza after he gets Wendy from the bus station." Ford said.

"Oh...um...how long will that be?" Dipper asked.

"Probably an hour. The bus hasn't arrived yet." Ford said.

"Ok," Dipper said. He turned to Bill.

"You wanna go for a walk before dinner?" Dipper asked. Bill shrugged.

"Sure, where to Pine Tree?" Bill asked.

"Just in the woods around the Mystery Shack. I haven't looked around there in a while, I just want to check some things." Dipper said. Bill wasn't exactly sure what Dipper meant but he didn't really care. Spending any time with Pine Tree was definitely worth while.

"Ford, I'm going to make rounds, we'll be back in an hour. Send me a text if they get back early." Dipper said.

"Be careful Dipper." Ford said. Dipper nodded before walking out of the Shack.

"So...um...do you do this often?" Bill asked as they walked into the woods.

"Yeah, pretty much daily. I'm usually with Ford. He won't let me go alone anymore. Although, he's getting a little bit too old to be protecting me." Dipper said.

"Its not like there's really anything to be protecting you from anyway." Bill said. Dipper gave him a look that made Bill think that Dipper knew something he didn't.

"So...you mentioned something like making rounds..? What did you mean by that?" Bill asked.

"Looking for anything suspicious. Just anything that doesn't belong." Dipper said, scanning the tree line.

"Oh...any particular reason?" Bill asked. Dipper glanced at Bill, debating on whether or not he should say anything. He didn't want to scare Bill off. And he desperately wanted the boy's help.

"Mysterious things happen in the woods here. I'm trying...to collect evidence for something that happened last year." Dipper said choosing his words carefully.

"Oh. So...just try to find anything out of place?" Bill asked. Dipper nodded.
