The gunshot rang loudly in the room.
Bill fell against the desk weakly.
Everything seemed to slow down for Dipper.
He noticed Tad was distracted, still completely confused by what was going on.
So he tried to break it down in his head.
They found Mabel.
Mabel was alive.
Tad came back.
He has a gun.
He was going to shoot them.
Bill turned on Dipper.
Tad had shot Bill.
He wasn't sure what had happened exactly, but he didn't care. He saw an opening. Tad was distracted.
Dipper lunged at Tad, attempting to wrestle the gun out of his hand.
The two crashed to the floor, both trying to grab the gun, which miraculously didn't go off in their wrestling.
Tad was much stronger than Dipper, however. He managed to push Dipper off of him and point the gun at Dipper.
"You're clever, I'll give you that. But you're weak! I'll just kill you right now, save me the trouble." Tad said. He pointed the gun at Dipper's head again.
Dipper closed his eyes, bracing himself for the bullet. The end. His death.
But it never came.
Dipper heard a loud scream, followed by a gunshot, but the bullet never made contact with him
Dipper opened his eyes and saw Tad on the floor, a large bleeding wound in his right shoulder.
And Bill, standing over him, supporting himself on the desk, holding a large bloody knife. Now having two bullet wounds in him. One in his right shoulder, and the other in the center of his chest.
He smiled at Dipper, before collapsing to the floor, dropping the knife.
"Bill!" Dipper cried out, quickly moving to catch him.
"H-Heya Pine Tr-Tree...I had you g-going there for a bit did-didn't I?" Bill said, stuttering.
"I thought you were with Tad," Dipper said, tears threatening to fall.
"Yeah, 'm glad I t-took those act-acting classes. H-Had you both fool-fooled." Bill said weakly.
"Almost g-g-got the gu-gun too. If I w-wouldn't have me-messed it u-u-up..." Bill said. Tears began to fall down his cheeks, as well as Dipper's.
"You were brilliant Bill," Dipper said, brushing a strand of hair out of Bill's face as he cradled Bill in his arms.
Dipper leaned down and kissed Bill on the lips.
"N-No pity ki-kisses Pine Tree. You don't get to kiss me be-beca-cause I'm dying..." Bill said weakly.
"You're not dying. It's just a scratch." Dipper insisted, desperately hoping if he said it out loud, maybe it would be true.
"Wait! My radio!" Dipper said. He went to press the button on his earpiece to contact his family but found that the earpiece was gone! It had fallen out during his fight with Tad.
He turned to Bill to grab his earpiece but found his gone too.
"I can get help. Where's your earpiece!? I can't find it." Dipper asked.
"G-Gave it t-to Mabel when I put her in the cell...f-figured if T-Tad saw me with it h-he would get sus-sus-suspicious." Bill stuttered.
"I th-think she al-ready-ready contacted th-them," Bill said, "They sh-should be on-on their w-w-way."
Then he began laughing a pained laugh.
"N-Now I know h-how Will fe-feels." Bill said. Bill's expression fell.
"Would y-you tell th-them...I love them...W-Will and Kill?" Bill asked.
"No! You can tell them yourself. You aren't allowed to die!" Dipper demanded.
"We-we aren't even in a re-relationsh-ship yet and you-you're already b-bossing me ar-around, " Bill said, giving another pained laugh.
"I don't care. You don't get to die. I can't...I can't live without you..." Dipper said. Bill didn't say anything else.
The two of them just sat there crying.
Until Bill stopped crying.
Dipper felt a hand on his shoulder.
Mabel stood sat next to him, though she looked like she was near death herself, she was prepared to forget her own problems, just to be there for her brother. She wrapped an arm around her shoulder. Pulling him into a side hug. He just continued to cry.
He felt the slow ragged breaths Bill took, getting fewer and far between. Dipper gripped Bill's hand, bringing it to his lips, kissing the back of his hand.
They stayed like that for what seemed like ages.
Finally, they heard footsteps approaching the room.
Dipper looked up and saw Ford, Stan, Soos, and Wendy, as well as both Kill and Will.
He looked down at Bill, before letting another sob escape his lips, unable to meet Will and Kill's gaze.
He saw the two brothers approach them, crouching down to see their dying brother.
When he could no longer feel Bill breathing, Dipper closed his eyes.
"I...I'm so sorry!" Dipper exclaimed to the two brothers.
"It's all my fault!" He said.
He felt two hands on his shoulders.
Dipper looked up and saw Will and Kill had both placed a hand on his shoulder and were looking at him.
But not looks of blame, or hate....just....
...Understanding.
