-Warren pov-
I look up wondering who it could be and I see a small blue eyed girl staring down at me with a face of concern. "Y-yeah... I'm fine" Of course I lied, but a simple 'I'm fine' seems better than telling her, a complete stranger, what's really going on.
"Oh... Okay" She reaches her hand out to help me up and I take it, while wiping the last few tears away. She pulls me up and hands me my tray of food. "I assume this is yours?" I nod and take it. "Thank you.. " I see a small smile form at the corners of her mouth. "Anytime!" She said that a little too enthusiastically.... Like she knows this is probably going to happen again.
"Sooo you come here often?" She said with a smile on her face in an attempt to make get rid of the permanent frown on my face. I give a fake smile to humor her. "Yeah, but not willingly" She laughed at my remark.
She stuck her hand out to me. "I'm Kei, it's nice to meet you." I take her hand and we shake. "Nice to meet you to.... I'm Warren.." I manage to say it without stuttering. It really was nice to meet someone who didn't seem to want to use me as a punching bag.
She doesn't look at me like most people here do either. She just looks like she wants a friend.... I have a small but genuine smile on my face at the thought of actually having a friend who didn't see me as a little sibling. She had these kind.. deep blue eyes at first but when she notices the smile on my face she seems to light up a little and they appear to change color... They turn... Purple.
"Incredible" I mumble to myself. "What?" "Nothing" That's amazing. I've never seen anyone who's eyes change color, and I've been in foster care since I was two so that says something.
I come back to my senses when I here the ring of the bell. "Well I guess my lunch is over. I gotta head to class... "
I say as I pick up my tray. "Oh.okay! See ya later Warren" "See ya" I throw out my tray and head to class.-After school-
I walk out of the school and I see a small group of guys that I haven't seen before walk out of the building, they're probably new. I counted about six or seven of them. They all looked pretty similar, my guess is that they're either brothers or cousins.
The amount would be fairly surprising if they didn't appear to be vampires, six or seven kids is a pretty average number for the species.
"Mom told me to come pick those of you without a vehicle up. So come on losers." The one who appeared to be oldest said as he got in a van followed by about three of them. The other three headed to the school parking lot.
"I hope those guys aren't as mean as they look... I really don't need another group that targets me... " I thought to myself as I head home.
-time skip to the house-
I ended up taking the long way home today because I saw Maverick while I was on my normal route, so now I'm about 15 minutes late. I hope Dad's still at work. He hates it when I'm late.
(PSA: Warren is actually still in foster care, he just calls his foster parents Mom and Dad because they're the closest he feels he'll ever get to having actual parents)
I walk through the front door and I'm immediately greeted by my angry foster dad
