*It's done*

(Y/n)

The remaining negotiations went by fairly quickly, the contract has been written down and soon enough, the doors of he great hall opened for the public.

Berkians and Hunters gathered in front of the stage, everyone trying to get a good view.

Stoic stood up from his seat and headed to a table, which has been set up moments ago, and placed the contract down on it. On the table were a feather and a small ink glass as well.

Viggo rose from his seat as well to stand beside my current chief. His suddenly missing presence beside me felt somehow weird.

Stoic cleared his throat. The people went silent.

"Dear members of both tribes!", Stoic spoke, as he proudly faced the crowd, "A long time of trouble lays beyond us. A time, were we faced differences, opponents and challenges. Luckily these are over, and this evening, we're standing at a threshold, where opponents turn into allies and we learn to understand each other's differences. But the real challenges are only about to come. Ahead of us lies a time of change and learning - hopefully we all learn something for our best."

The crowd - that has been listening attentively until now - cheered shortly.

Now Viggo started to speak:

"But all of this wouldn't be possible, if a single mind wouldn't have dared to speak up."

He turned to look at me with respect in his eyes and warmth in his smile. I felt myself smiling back. For a second or two I could feel everyone stare at me, before Viggo continued his part of the speech.

"If it wasn't for that brilliant idea from a young woman, whose mental horizon is far wider than most of ours, we would still be fighting today. Maybe even dying. So I wish for my tribe's future and the future of others to be one of allegiance and friendship. Above all, a friendship that overlooks our significant differences. Because these are something we cannot wipe out entirely. Which is why this newfound peace will build upon a compromise. My tribe and I will change our business from hunting dragons to breeding dragons."

Some of Berks people didn't take this well, but despite their murmuring they kept listening, as Stoic took over the word again:

"And in return, we will accept the trading with dragons. To make this idea work however, we Berkians must teach the Hunters how to handle dragons correctly, without having to mistreat them. And: As it is tradition, a marriage will be held between two members of both tribes."

Like I've been told before, I stood up after that sentence to position myself beside Viggo, who put his arm around my shoulder.

Stoic continued.

"This young lass accepted to take part in the tradition. Viggo and (Y/n) are with the signing of the contract officially betrothed and their marriage will be in three weeks from now on." He clasped his hands. "But now it's time to get the contract signed."

With these last words being said, Stoic grabbed the feather, dipped it into the ink and signed the contract.

Viggo let go of my shoulder and did exactly what Stoic did. And after him, it was my turn. Oh boy... I never expected me to sign such an important document.

Viggo smiled kindly and held out the feather for me to grab it. Once again, I couldn't keep myself from smiling back. I took the feather out of his hand and looked at the contract's bottom.

There was a paragraph, only for me and a line, where I was supposed to write down my name, in order to sign the contract:

I hereby certify that I voluntarily sign and insure to marry my assigned partner according to tradition.

I dipped the feather into the black ink and signed.

Putting the feather down beside the contract, I stood back up straight and the crowd started to cheer and applaud loudly.

Stoic and Viggo looked at each other contently and shook their hands firmly, making peace a full blown deal.

I felt happiness dwell up inside me as well.

It was done. Peace was restored.

Yeah, I know, this chapter is a little shorter than the others, but I thought it was a nice moment to end it.

And no, the story doesn't end here, it's only about to begin. ^^ Lots of love is still about to come!

As always I hope you enjoy my work and have a nice day.
