I was running, but I didn't know what from or even why. My bare feet hitting against the sticks that have fallen from the trees, and the muddy ground that was wet from the rain pouring down on me. No matter how much it hurt I couldn't bring myself to stop running. I couldn't hear anything except my racing heart and the constant breath that passed my lips. My body, which was aching for rest, was slowly giving way, but for some reason it still kept running.

'Why? Why are you running from your fate?'

I wanted to scream out, to tell the voice that I wasn't trying to run away but all that came out was small whimpers. Plus the obvious fact that I was running.

Suddenly something grabs at my legs, making me fall to the ground with a thud. There was a pain in my head and as I looked back a shadowy figure is there grabbing my ankle. I kick my other leg at it while trying to pull my ankle free. I gasped, my eyes tearing as it suddenly  started to burn.

'Why? Why are you running from your fate?'

One after another started coming behind him and suddenly a light flashed behind me. Instinctively I cover my eyes and as I feel no grip on my ankle I make a break for it. Almost tripping from not being able to see.

Before I knew it I was falling. I stopped running not by choice but because I was in the sky looking over the world, falling down towards the ground in one fell swoop. The tears finally stopped falling and as I fell to the ground slowly turning around so I wouldn't see the ground before I hit, that's when I saw it.

I saw a face, one that looked like an angel. No, it was more beautiful than that, it was indescribable. He looked brighter than the sun, it almost hurt to look but impossible to look away from.

He opened his arms for me smiling a small smile his hand touching my cheek as my fall stopped in front of him, still in the air. "It's okay to run, it's okay to fall. Just know I'll always be there to catch you, my sweet Uccello." His hand lightly touched my cheek and I closed my eyes, almost forgetting that I was about to fall to my doom.

(Uccello = Bird)

Gasping for air I sat up my eyes wide and sweat ran down my shirt. The hair on my arms and neck stood up at attention as I looked around my room. Everything was how it was before I went to sleep but I couldn't push away the feeling someone was in my room. I could still feel a stinging feeling on my cheek from where I was touched in my dream. My heart was racing, from the dream or from the feeling that someone was here. Maybe it was both. Bringing my hand towards my right eye I wipe off the tear a tremor running through my body.

Come on Val, it was just a dream, it can't hurt you.

This wasn't the first time this happened, recently it seems that I've been having dreams like this. Him and me in different situations. For the past month it's been nonstop and my mom thinks it's because of stress but does stress really bother your dreams?

It felt so real. Uccello. A shiver ran down my spine as I remembered the name. Who was that person? And why was he in my dreams? And why does he feel so familiar? Shaking my head I threw the cover to the side as I looked at my clock on my bedside table. I had school in three hours but seeing as I woke up early I didn't see the point in not getting ready earlier than usual. Even though it was the first day of school I was going to do what I did any other year and just throw on a random outfit and chill in the background.

Standing up a gasp leaves my mouth as my knees gave out and I fell down towards the ground with a loud thud. Hissing in pain my hand moves towards my ankle to check to see them bright red. How is this possible?
