Zander's POV

Jamie clutching my arm made my heart swell a little. Not that I could show it deeply affected me like it did. I brought his head to rest on my chest and tussled with his semi-curly mess of hair. His face was brimming with anxiety and I almost felt it myself for him. I trusted my kingdom but seeing how Jamie was raise, I know it's going to be a major obstacle for us to tackle. The trees were passing us by in a rush of mossy green. Jamie was mostly silent at first, potentially due to the fact he didn't know what to think. I'm not sure what I would do in his situation either but seeing how I'm not, I shouldn't worry too much about it. I let his eyes flutter shut on me as I picked up my phone. I don't blame Jamie for being tired and trying to fall asleep since it's a long journey ahead until we arrive at our kingdom. I positioned his head to be laying comfortably on me as I answered the call.

"Hello?" I quietly spoke as to not wake Jamie.

"Hey! King of the East, how are you my man? Are you coming back soon? I heard you had to attend to sinful duties," Turner playfully mentioned.

"Very funny Turner. Ha ha. See I'm laughing?"

"Ah come on man! I'm happy for you, I promise. When you get here you have to tell me about how you claimed him. Was he a fighter? Or everything you imagined?"

I noticeably hesitated, "I haven't claimed him yet. He's been taken this whole thing pretty hard and that's the last thing to seem to be on his mind-"

Turner went silent for a little bit then erupted into boisterous laughter, "You're kidding right? You've always been hilarious, it's why I love you! Now I get it, you might be shy to hide the details but I'm here for you. Didn't you claim too early?"

My tone shifted to a darker, more indifferent one as I responded, "Turner, I seriously haven't claimed him yet. It wasn't my top priority at the moment. It will be once I get back to the kingdom, okay?"

Turner seemed to be caught off guard with how delayed he responded, "You meet the kid and you go soft? Am I talking to the same guy who didn't blink an eye at flirting with the kingdoms omegas or killing an enemy in an instinct?"

"I haven't changed and you know I would have never actually been with those omegas. They were small flings at most and I just want my mate to be claimed in my kingdom. Is that so hard to ask for?"

"If that's how you want to reassure yourself, go ahead. You know how everyone is going to react when they don't see you've claimed him yet. Especially if he goes into heat, it'll be 10x worse if you're around. He'll attract even goddamn house plants with his scent if he does. But hey, if you want to blue ball yourself, be my guest. I just think it's a little off for you to be so concerned what an omega feels or has to say. You didn't think much when it came to-"

"I'm going to cut you off there. This is the end of the conversation about him. You'll meet him soon enough anyways. You might even like him, he's...feisty to say the least."

"You're right, I'll talk to you later. I'll be waiting for you, King," Turner hung up the phone call promptly after.

I huffed and looked back at Jamie, planting his messy hair out of the way of his nose. It kept making him scrunch his nose in his sleep since it tickled I'm assuming. I held Jamie just a tad tighter and gazed at his bare neck. Turner wasn't wrong about the danger if Jamie goes into heat. No one around him would be able to hold back, specifically me. The moment I laid eyes on him, I had the urge to make him officially mine by claiming him but I knew that would overwhelm him even more. I promised him I would try to go at his pace. One of my most prominent fear was Jamie meeting my friends and advisors. He wasn't a traditionalist or even considered normal with how he thought. His village's ways of thinking were so out of the question for any modern kingdom. He's stuck in this mindset and I don't know if I have the talent, well rather heart, to pull him out of it. He'll just have to naturally learn how to be a good omega.
