Zander POV
I calmly folded my napkin on my lap as to not make it obvious I was boiling. I had sent Jamie to get Jack some new clothes to change into. Another servant led Jack to a guest room to get changed. When Jamie came back it was clearer then before how much he's been crying.
"I apologize for ruining the dinner. It was out of line for me to do, please don't let it affect how you see Zander," Jamie spoke more softly than before. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion with how concerned he seemed for me.
"For a wood-dweller pipsqueak like yourself, you have a lot of guts," Turner responded back while finishing his dinner. He wiped his mouth and mumbled under his breath, "Kind of interesting though." Jamie held back a sigh from Turner's response as my other friends preferred to look at me for approval. I gave them a look of acceptance and they proceeded to speak back now.
"As long as Zander plans on dealing with it. You have so much room to change and grow before you're official," my friends chirped up. Jamie's face ticked with annoyance and my friends straightened themselves out the moment they saw. "I mean it'll be good for you and Zander! Zander has a lot of work to do though, doesn't he?" my friends awkwardly chuckled amongst each other.
One of my friends omega interrupted, "Why does Zander have to change him? Isn't it it unfair for him to do so much work? It should be his mate doing the work not our precious King."
"I'm honored for your concern but I'll be fine. Jamie is a fast learner," I promptly told the omega before calling Jamie over towards me.
Jamie hesitantly walked over as he bent over, "Go back to my room and stand in the corner until I get back. I don't think it'll be good if you stay any longer. No dessert either."
Jamie automatically protested, "B-but I won't say anything, I swear I'll just stay quiet this time."
He continued to whine on for a bit before fading out as I looked up from my glass to give him a look. He shut up and left the room with the servants following him back. I ordered Jamie to stay in our room until the dinner was over since I don't think I could handle another one of his outbursts. My hand still stung from the guilt of slapping Jamie. My friends all seemed tensed afterwards which is understandable. Jamie's showcase was quite one to see especially because it's their first impression of him. Unsurprisingly so, Turner was the first one to speak once Jamie left.
"Y'know he has a flare for the dramatics...it was amusing if you asked me," Turner twirled his fork in his hand.
"Oh shut it Turner. I already know what you want to say," I heaved out and ran my hand through my disheveled hair.
"Zander, he's going to need more than you just teaching him! You can never bring him to meetings with the other countries. It'll destroy us and your reputation. I know a great trainer and place for him to be sent. It'll only be for a couple of weeks but worth the price and wait," Thomas suggested from the table.
"I won't be sending him anywhere. He's new to this and I already explained where he came from. I already have a tutor for him and I can do it myself," I explained to them.
"You barely have the free time for leisurely activities and you think you have the time to deal with all of that?" Thomas barged in again.
"I don't know if it's my place to offer but my omega is amazing. She came trained perfectly and she would love to help Jamie," my other friend offered while his omega had a forced smile written across her face.
