I got off the train with my case and saw the twins waiting by their car, heads down as they talked, not aware of the people rushing by them. I had no doubt the topic was Lily. When dad had called and told me what had happened, I couldn't believe it, Lily didn't deserve any of this.
Mom had come down earlier and was already at the hospital with Lily and Dad, the doctor had decided they were keeping her in another day, much to Lily's disgust and our concern. Because she was stressed and it was affecting her recovery.
"Hey" I called to the twins, who straighten at my approach. They both looked haggard and not their usual selves.
"Logan" Max greeted me, taking my case to put in the boot.
"We'll drop off your case at our flat, before we head to the hospital" Hunter said, getting in the car.I could sense the guilt they felt, but they weren't to blame. "What are you doing about these girls?" I asked once we were on our way.
"The Police are handling it" Max replied glumly.
"Bullshit, I know the Police are doing their thing but tell me what you are doing?" I argue."Look Logan, your Dad has told us to leave it to the Police, he doesn't want any more stress for Lily and she's worrying we are going to do something stupid" Hunter snaps.
"What was she going to the dorm for?" I push.
"Her locket, the one we gave her for her sixteenth birthday, Imogen had stolen it from her room" Max tells me."Have the police talked to Imogen and got the necklace back?"
"No, Imogen denied stealing it, she said Lily said she could borrow it and she put it back, if it's now missing, she is saying Lily lost it." Max answers.
"The police are waiting to re-interview Lily before they do anything further" Hunter adds frustratedly."And the driver of the car?"
"The police have an ID, it is linked to one of Lilys dorm mates Robbie, his girlfriend turned stalker, Melissa, she's disappeared at the moment but the police are looking for her, both here and at her home in Brighton, I know Robbie is also trying to track her down and he will let us know if anyone within their old friend group spots her""So Lily could still be at risk?"
"Yes" Max says quietly but we all hear him."That's total crap, Lily needs that locket back, so once we drop off my bag, let's go find Imogen and get it back" I tell them.
"Logan..." hunter starts but I wave my hand at him.
"Not listening, I either find her with or without you" I warn them and I catch a brief glimpse of a smile on Max's face before they both give their agreement. At their flat Hunter calls Robbie and Nick to see if they are at the dorm, they have Lily's keys so can get in anyway but want to know if Imogen is going to be there.
"She's out at classes at the moment, but Nick reckons she'll be back in about an hour or so" Hunter tells us and we head out to the dorms.
Robbie is waiting for us when we get there, asking Max about Lily and updating him on the Melissa situation, one of their friends had spotted her, so the police had been informed.
Max suggested Robbie and Nick left for a coffee, and we would let them know when we were done and it was safe to return.
"This is a crap dorm, which is Lilys room?" I ask and they wave to Lily's door, I open it and step inside and frown, how did she persuade Dad to let her stay here, it was awful.
"Lets pack her stuff up while we wait, she's not staying here" I tell them and Max laughs."She's been fighting to stay here, both your dad and we have tried to get her to leave" he says and I grin, that's the difference between them and me.
"Lily is stubborn, but she forgives easily, just pack it up and move her, don't give her the option as she will argue for the sake of it" I advise and we each grab a bag or box and start packing her things.
