Finally, graduation.
No, not ours, but Lily's.
A date we have been waiting for for three years, since she moved into the flat with us and we promised her parents that university would come first.
Now she was done learning and we were done waiting.
Our relationship had grown over the first few months she lived with us, developing at Lily pace, and we now shared everything. The flat had been reorganised to suit our new living situation and we had fallen into a comfortable arrangement, with work, school and leisure. All of us enjoying the diverse opportunities Oxford had to offer.
Lily had kept her air of innocence in everything except the bedroom, there our girl became a feisty woman who knew what she wanted and was as creative as she was loving.
"You ready?" Hunter called appearing at the door.
"Yep" I say smoothing down my tie and giving myself a glance over in the mirror.
Lily had gone on ahead to meet up with her course mates and get ready and we were meeting our families at the Sheldonian Theatre. Luckily Logan's graduation ceremony was on a different date so he could come along. It was after the ceremony that we were nervous about, we were finally going to ask Lily to marry us.
We hadn't told anyone but knowing our families they probably suspected what we were up to, especially as we had booked a private dining room at the Randolph Hotel for a celebration meal afterwards and wanted all the family there.
"You got the ring?" Hunter asks, grabbing the car keys and I tap my pocket, feeling the box tucked inside.
"Yes"
We drive silently towards the theatre and grin nervously at each other before we join our families. Aunt Lucy and Mom already arm in arm and talking, Logan teasing Geneva. and Paris talking to Uncle Paul and our dads.
"My boys" mom rushes over to greet us as soon as she spots us and we smile at her as she hugs us both and we greet everyone.
"Come on, the dean has managed to get us seats together" she starts to herd us to wards the doors.
"How did we get so many seats, I thought there was a limit per student" I query realising how big our group was.
"Ah yes, there is but we negotiated a box for the family to use, and the charity still does a lot with the universities so we used that to our advantage" Mom replies sheepishly, sharing a look with Lucy.
Are the twins coming?" Hunter asks.
Mom frowns, "Not to this but they will join us for the meal, they have a lecture this morning"
"I thought they were on a break?"I ask confused but mom and Aunt Lucy share a look before Aunt Lucy tells us they are giving the lecture on their rowing career to raise funds for the charity.
I laughed at them, I wondered what our little brothers had done now to have that as a penance. "How did you get them to do it?" Hunter questions looking surprised, especially knowing how difficult the twins could be.
"We have a secret weapon" Mom and Aunt Lucy giggled and I shook my head, we were better not knowing.
We watched the ceremony and cheered loudly as our girl walked the stage, her cheeks flushing red at our cheer, but from her smile and the cheeky little wave she sent our way, she was happy we were all there. Finding her afterwards we watched as our families surrounded her and gave their congratulations before her eyes found us and she came to our side.
