Matchmaking Disaster (35)

I ran and ran and ran. I wanted to be as far away to them as possible. I wanted to forget them, that I even met them. They were liars. Traitors! I trusted them everything I had. I loved them with all my heart. Now they’re just going to repay me with what? Lies?!

I stopped for a moment, catching my breath for a while. I could still hear the music from the traitor’s house. I’d been running in a while now, but why I hadn’t still gotten any further?

I fell to the ground, my cries getting deeper. “Why?” I cried.

I wanted answers. I wanted to know why they would do such a thing. Maybe I was too good, too kind for them. I’d shown too much love and care for them.

I wasn’t able to think straight anymore. As I crossed the street, I didn’t notice that there’s a car rushing. Before I could run for my life, it already hit me.

* * * * *

I was hearing voices again. I couldn’t comprehend the words they were saying though. Why were they here in the first place? They were not— I wasn’t in my room again?! Another?! ‘Thank you for making my life miserable Zac.’ I thought sarcastically. The event last night was flooding in my head.

I opened my eyes almost immediately because I wanted to know who’s with me. I didn’t want any traitors or liars beside me or in the same room as me.

The first person I saw was Harry. He had his back on me but I knew that it was him. Next was my mom who’s talking to Harry. She hadn’t notice that I was already awake. And lastly, my super lovely best friend. (Please note the sarcasm)

As mom kept on ranting, her gaze finally landed on me. She quickly ran herself onto me, kissing and hugging me.

“Oh! My baby. Why you’re so…” she trailed off. She didn’t know the words to use, I could tell.

“Troublemaker?” I suggested.

“No. More like a trouble… maybe troublemaker will do,” she stammered.

A little laugh escaped my lips with her words. Then it almost disappeared when Monica came to me, touching my hand.

I yanked her hand away. I didn’t want to have a stain of her traitory.

Maybe that’s why she wanted me to change because she wanted to have Zac.

“What are you saying Sapphire?” Harry asked.

“Did I say that out loud?”

“Yes. What’s that suppose to mean?” Now it’s Monica who’s asking.

I stared at her for a moment. She knew what it was about. Why she’s feigning innocence? I wanted to pull those hairs of hers. She’s such a liar.

“Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m saying, Monica. Stop acting like an angel. It doesn’t suit you anymore. If you could do that before, you can’t do that again. I believed you. You were my best friend. But why would you do that?” I growled.

There’s no kindness in my heart anymore. Only hatred and anger.

She just stared at me, tears brimming in her eyes. Then she stormed out. Guilty! That’s what she was.

“What’s that for?” Harry asked confusedly. Mom left and followed the traitor.

Harry’s expression was shocked. He knew how kind Monica was and he knew that she wouldn’t sleep with her best friend’s boyfriend. That’s what I thought too, but her true colors had showed up. She couldn’t pretend anymore.

“What” he asked again.

I rolled my eyes at him. “Please Harry. Just leave me for a moment. Please. I wanted to be alone.”

He did as he was told by not asking any more questions. But the door blasted open, revealing his blonde hair and his green orbs.

“Sapphire, what happened?” he came closer to me, trying to touch my hand.

At first I wanted to say to him what really happened. But he already knew that. So why not jump to where I want it to be?

I glowered at him, disgust filled my eyes. “What are you doing here? Feeling guilty already? Huh! You should be!” I muttered sarcastically.

“Sapphire…” he tried to reach for my hand but I didn’t let him.

“Please Zac. Just stay away from me. Stay away to my life. I don’t want you near me ever again. Just please.” my voice was hoarse. Tears were falling down my cheeks. Why I had to feel this way?

He opened his mouth to say something but I immediately interjected, “And don’t say sorry. I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough of your lies. I don’t want to hear any sorry from you. You just made my life a living hell.”

He dropped his gaze to the floor. “I’m…” he stopped when he realized that he was about to say sorry. He should be anyway. But I didn’t want to hear it anymore. “I didn’t know what happened. But I swear nothing happened. She just—“

“Please Zac…” I laughed but with no humor. “Don’t make this even harder. Don’t. Explain. Anything. Because I won’t listen. All of the words that came out, coming out and will come out, will all be just lies to me. You’re a liar and you’re a jerk. I felt sorry for myself for falling for you… so deeply that I can’t get up anymore. Every second that I think of you gives a pang of pain in my chest. You don’t deserve me and I most certainly don’t deserve you.”

“Sapphire. Please. Just let me explain.”

“And then what? Huh Zac?! What will happen next after you’re done explaining? We won’t be together again Zac. Even though you explain everything, there’s no hope between the two of us. All the hopes were gone. Everything was gone. Now, all you have to do is leave me alone, and be gone to my life.” I turned my back on him as endless tears fell. I didn’t know to him but for me, it hit like a bullet.

“I don’t want to be out of your life Sapphire,” he mumbled more to himself.

I tried to collect all my composure before saying, “You have to, Zac. My life was aweful with you in it. I had the worst days when I was with you. You made my life worst. Just leave ZAc.”

I heard his footsteps leaving the room. But before he shut the door, I heard him mumbled, loud enough for me to hear, “Bye, Sapphire.” Then the door clicked.

I lay straight, staring into the endless color of white on the ceiling, “Bye Zac.”

It hit like a thousand bullet saying those words.

We’re really over.

Zac and I were never ever getting back together.

But the thought just brought more tears to my eyes.

Harry came into view. He didn’t say any. He rushed to my side, hugging me to comfort.

This was too painful.

And I want it to end.
