KEESHA
I land on my seat with an 'Oomph!'. I was panting because of all that running I did right there. I am so embarrassed. Firstly, I couldn't stop myself from gawking at Damien and then I was caught doing it. I don't know if I'll ever be able to face Damien ever again. But I have a date with him tonight. I wonder where he'll be taking me too. Well...... it's still to early to guess.
The teacher enters the class and begins the lecture but I was still wondering. Why was it that every single time I thought of Damien I went into a whole loop of thoughts about him. I guess it was what happened when girls like someone. But I was still not too sure about this date tonight. I was super excited yet doubtful. For all I know he might actually be a serial killer cannibal and I was his next victim. He might as well be luring me into a trap to kill me. Nonetheless my curiosity had a better hold of me, just like people say that curiosity killed the cat.
The whole day went by in a blur of lost thoughts and some mild attention here and there. I had told Joey about the date tonight beforehand so he kind of understood my mindlessness but this didn't stop him from teasing me all day long. Soon it was time for the date. I was wearing a cute dark green off-shoulder dress with white sneakers and loop earrings. I put on some lip balm was ready to go. Just as I thought so the door bell rang.
I went and open the door knowing that it was Damien here to pick me up. He was right on time which kind of impressed me as it meant he might never keep me waiting. Whoa!!! wait there for a second. Did I just think about a a future with him. God, what is up with me?
"Hey there beautiful. You look absolutely lovely tonight, and I, have the pleasure to take this lovely lady on a date. Lucky me." Damien and his compliments, they both got me flustered.
"Well..... you don't look that bad yourself." And that people was the understatement of the century. To say he looked handsome, he looked ravishing in that black blazer over a white t-shirt and ripped jeans. I just wanted to jump his bones right there. See, I told you, there is something seriously wrong with me ever since I've met Damien.
"So shall we," he said extending his elbow in a gentlemanly manner with mischief in his eyes, I gladly accepted his elbow , looping my arm through his, going along with his act. We then got into his car which if I might say so is my dream car. My jaw was hanging when I saw it. It was a 1969 Chevy Camaro Convertible. I've wanted this car ever since I saw Damon Salvatore from the vampire diaries having it. It was beautiful. Damien was laughing like an idiot seeing my reaction to his car. Just cause he didn't how much I've wanted this car, he enjoyed seeing my reaction.
We started going towards wherever the date was gonna be. "How about we play 20 Questions?" Damien suggested a few minutes into the ride. "Yeah sure. You begin," I replied.
"What's your favorite color?" Damien asked.
"Black and Dark Blue."
And so by the time we reached our destination I came to know that Damien liked Pasta, the color green, and that he was actually Italian. Also Damien came to know that I liked Chicken, Channing Tatum and that I loved the supernatural genre. He couldn't stop laughing stop laughing when I told him that.
"Okay Scarlett, we are here. I want you to close your eyes and just follow my directions. I'll also hold your hand guide you and before you even think about it, no, I'm not a serial killer whose gonna kill you," Damien said with a serious look on his face. I couldn't help but laugh, serious faces were my weakness. Seeing me laugh Damien joined too.
We walked some distance, I could feel trees around and the whoosh of the leaves as the wind blew through them. It was calm and peaceful. We stopped a few minutes later and Damien told me to open my eyes. I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a table for two set right in front of a beautiful crystal clear lake which was surrounded by small stones and flowers. It was so serene and brought peace to my heart.
"How did you find this place. It's beautiful. I love it." I couldn't help but compliment.
"Well, still not as beautiful as you," he replied.
My face turned red as I was not used to compliments. Damien then pulled out the chair for me. I gladly took a seat while Damien sat across from me. He opened a bottle of champagne and poured some for me. It was good, so damn good. I liked how this date was going so far.
"So Damien, what is it that you were going to tell me?" I asked. I had not forgotten my original reason for agreeing to go on this date.
"Before I tell you anything, I want you to keep an open mind about everything I tell you. Promise me that you will not freak out before you listen to everything I have to say," Damien said with a solemn look on his face.
"Okay, I promise."
"So you know I'm not originally from this place. And the place I'm from, we don't usually mingle with others as we are a pretty tight knit community. We don't belong with others and try to stay as far away from them as possible. You see, and please let me finish before freaking out or drawing your own conclusions, I am a vampire," and with that his fangs come out and his eyes turn a black. Oh my God! What the holy hell!! I never thought that the fantasy world I always imagined living in was real. Now that I know that it's real, I'm scared out of my mind. This means that us, human being are not at the top of the food chain. We live so blindly to the fact that our lives are constantly endangered.
"Okay Damien if this is some kind of sick sick prank you are playing on me then this is not funny at all. How can you be a vampire? And even if you are why are you telling me this? Isn't it supposed to be like you kill me if your secret is revealed? Why haven't you killed me yet?"
"I am not joking Scarlett. It is true. And we do have the rule that if this secret of ours is revealed then we have to stop that person from revealing it to others any way possible. But Scarlett, you are different. You are not just any person. You are my soulmate. You see, a vampire is given a gift by the Gods when he/she is turned. This gift has the power to either destroy the person or make him something much much better. But as we are vampires, we have no souls. This gift given to us is more like a curse. So, to keep this curse in check, we have a soulmate given to us. If we don't find our soulmate as the time passes our 'gift' gets more out of hand. It gets from you controlling your gift to your gift controlling you. It takes great will power and energy to keep you gift in check if you haven't found your soulmate."
"So what happens once you find your soulmate?" I ask afraid of what the future holds for me.
"Well, in human terms, they get married and spend the rest of the eternity together," Damien said with a small smile.
"What if one of them doesn't want to?"
"Then the other one is executed as his gift being out of control is a threat to everybody," he said with a sad smile.
I gasp. How could anyone let that happen to anyone. I couldn't let that happen to Damien even if I didn't know him too well and was just informed that I will have to spend the rest of my eternity with him. He didn't seem like a bad guy. He even took me out on a date and told me everything even though he didn't have to. He could've just kidnapped me and not let me see my family or friends for forever. But he didn't. Him trusting me enough to tell me the truth was enough proof for me that he was a good guy.
