Finally the day ended and Song Lan felt exhausted, more so then before. All he wanted to do was to go home and snuggle with his husband Xiao Xingchen. Song Lan worked in a office of a large corporation and lately, his boss was driving him up the wall. He's been staying late at the office all week and by the time he went home, his husband was already asleep. He let out a sigh and went into his car, with a click of the keys into the ignition, he drove off.

When he made it back he made sure he was extra quiet. He didn't want to alert his husband and potentially wake him up, it was around 2am after all. He slowly crept up the stairs and opened the door to their shared bedroom. To his surprise, Xiao Xingchen wasn't asleep, instead he was reading a book. Song Lan gave a smile and loosened his tie. 

While taking off his jacket and putting it on a hook he went to the bathroom, took a quick shower, brushed his teeth and put on his pyjamas. When he came out Xiao Xingchen was still reading. "Hey, don't stress your eyes too much, don't forget about your surgery that's coming up" Song Lan said as he sat down on the bed beside him. "I won't, I just want to finish this book before then, it is your favourite after all" Xiao Xingchen said. "Here, why don't you lie down and I'll read it to you" Song Lan suggested. Xiao Xingchen smiled as he handed him his book and rested his head on his shoulder. 

Song Lan read to Xiao Xingchen for around 30 minutes till he let out a tiny yawn trying to hide it. This wasn't unnoticed by Xiao Xingchen. "Say...it's getting really late, we should probably get some sleep" Xiao Xingchen said quietly. "Good idea..." Song Lan said as they moved into a position where they were lying down facing each other. Song Lan shut off the lights and pulled the blanket up to cover the both of them. 

While Song Lan was drifting off to sleep, Xiao Xingchen wasn't. Not that he didn't want to sleep, but it's the fact that the surgery would only be 50% successful and if anything went wrong, he would lose his vision forever. He didn't want that, he wanted to keep looking at Song Lan's face and wanted to witness every moment of their life together. He didn't want that to go away. 

Xiao Xingchen took his hand and caressed Song Lan's cheek. "I love you...so much" Xiao Xingchen whispered. Calmly Song Lan opened his eyes and smiled "I love you too, and I always will..." Song Lan said quietly as he kissed Xiao Xingchen's forehead. "Will you still love me even if I'm blind?" Xiao Xingchen asked gripping on the fabric of his pyjama's. "I'll love you even if you have 1 leg and 1 arm, even if you're deaf, even if you can no longer speak, and even if your blind, I love you for you, I'm in love with your amazing personality and how kind you are to others, and nothing will ever change that" Song Lan said. 

Xiao Xicheng felt the tears well up in his eyes as he wiped them away. "I was thinking...how about we adopt a child?" Xiao Xicheng said. "Is that what you want?" Song Lan asked. "If that's fine with you" Xiao Xicheng said. "I'm fine with anything, personality I think adopting a child is going to be a huge challenge but I'm ready for anything as long as it's with you" Song Lan said pulling Xiao Xingchen in closer. "We can change the guest room in our future child's room, I'll take a day off work tomorrow and then we'll look at some furniture for them then we'll visit the orphanage, sound like a plan?" Song Lan asked. Xiao Xingchen happily smiled and kissed his husband on the lips. "Sounds like a plan". 

The son rose early the next morning as Xiao Xingchen got up quickly and got ready. "Zichen, wake up" Song Lan yawned as he rubbed his eyes. "What? It's so early, go back to sleep" Song Lan said pulling the covers up once again. "Let's go, I want to meet the children already" Xiao Xingchen spoke as he shook him once again. After receiving no reaction Xingchen decided to make another approach. "Zichen" kiss  "its time to get up" kiss. This method always seemed to wake him up yet it was also kind of a bad approach as he would just be demanding more kisses later in the day. After much kisses and much convincing they were on the the way to the orphanage.

When they arrived, what they saw were children running around and playing with one another. Xiao Xingchen was looking at the children happily as the lady apologized for the children's lack of ability to calm down when told. Xiao Xingchen smiled at the lady and told her it was fine as he continued to watch the children play. 

The lady smiled back as she asked Song Lan to follow her to talk about the adoption papers and the requirements leaving Xiao Xingchen to make the decision on who they wanted to take home. Xiao Xingchen honestly felt a bit anxious as this one decision would affect the child's entire life. He looked around once again as he noticed a little girl sitting in the corner of the room, away from everyone elshome;
He eyed the girl with curiosity as he saw 3 boys sneak up behind her, they waved their hands at the side of her face as she shown no reaction, till one of then screamed behind her. Startled she quickly turned around as the boys just laughed at her. "Hey, little miss blind, your never gonna get adopted, no one's gonna want a child who can't see" The 3 boys walked away high fiving each other.

Xiao Xingchen scoffed as he crouched down to the little girl. She was now quietly sobbing to herself while covering her eyes. Xiao Xingchen put a hand on her shoulder, she slapped his hand away. "Leave me alone! I can't completely see! I'm blind! I get it, leave me alone!" She cried as she looked up. To her surprise it wasn't the 3 boys from before, instead she met saw a man smiling gently at her. "Sorry...I thought you were someone else, does it hurt?" She asked.

Xiao Xingchen shook his head. "It's alright, I was wondering why those boys were being so mean to you" Xiao Xingchen said. The girl looked down "As you probably heard from me earlier, I'm half blind...I have a hard time seeing and reacting to things" She said. Xiao Xingchen felt upset for this child, having to put up with all this teasing was surely not an easy thing to do. "Why don't you just tell the lady?" Xiao Xingchen said. "They said that if I told someone, I would be in a lot of trouble and that families don't want trouble making children" She said. "Well, how would you feel if I adopted you? Of course you don't have to follow us if you don't want to" Xiao Xingchen said.

The girl hesitated for a bit. "Are you going to abuse me like my old foster home?" She asked. "Abuse you? Never" Xiao Xingchen said. "I will never raise my hand against you". Slowly he let out his hand awaiting her to take it. "Whenever your ready" He spoke. The little girl didn't take as long as he thought as she shakily took his hand. She closed her eyes waiting for a hand to hit her but it never came. Instead she was just met with a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, my name is Xiao Xingchen" Xingchen introduced. The girl bowed. "My name is A-qing, nice to meet you too".

Xiao Xingchen smiled at her as she teared up. "Ah, what's wrong? Don't cry" Xingchen stammered as he took out some tissue and wiped away her tears. "I'm just really happy, this is the first time someone actually seemed to care about me" A-Qing cried. Xiao Xingchen just smiled at her and patted her on the head. "No more crying alright, you look much more prettier when you smile" Xiao Xingchen said. 

As Xiao Xingchen was talking to A-Qing about his adventures, he didn't notice that the time flew by and Song Lan was finished signing off papers, all that was needed was to get the signature of A-Qing and Xiao Xingchen and everything was final. Song Lan made his way out of the room and immediately went to Xiao Xingchen's side greeting him with a kiss on the top of his head. "Oh, you're back" Xiao Xingchen said smiling at him. "Yup, have you chosen who would be our child yet?" Song Lan asked. 

Xiao Xingchen nodded happily as he moved out of the way bring A-Qing into view. Song Lan bent down a bit to make direct eye contact with her. He saw her fumble with the end of her skirt nervously. "Nice to finally meet you, my name is Song Lan" Song Lan said. "A-Qing" She introduced. "I need you to sign a few things, if that's okay" Song Lan said as he showed her a piece of paper. "You really want to adopt me?" A-Qing asked. Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen looked at each other and smiled. "Of course" They both said. 

With tears in her eyes, she smiled happily and ran into their arms.
