"y.n" she slightly shakes you, you slightly pry open your eyelids, "are you okay?"
you groan, "yeah, why?"
"why are you sleeping with a knife?" you sat up and looked down at the knife you were clutching in your hand. you thought you'd seen a shadow out in the woods earlier when you'd gone for a walk, but hadn't told anyone because you were sure they wouldn't believe you.
so you'd resorted to the trusty knife your pops had given you for your tenth birthday.
"oh. i'm scared of the dark." you mentally face palmed yourself for the lame excuse. brooke chuckles.
"i'll stay with you, silly. if it'll help you sleep." as much as you wanted to sleep with brooke thompson, innocently or not, you didn't want her thinking of you as some dweeb who couldn't handle their own.
"it's fine, you don't have to."
brooke sucks her teeth, "scoot over." she says, and you do. you don't complain when she lies behind you and wraps her arm around you either.
