A Heartwarming Night

'Th-These woods! You can't be near these woods!" She figured out.

She scooped Jethro into her arms and rushed into an abandoned concrete building when she was there she backed up to the wall and eased him onto her knees.

She worriedly waited hours, which felt like days for him to awake.

7:30 p.m...

Jethro stirred, his eyes struggling to open as he moaned.

Alert,Ruby took notice and held her breath.

He fluttered his eyes open and jolted up, gasping for air.

Ruby frantically caught him before he even had a chance to sway.She eased him down onto her lap once again.

'Y-...Y...the girl-..." He struggled to say before coughing.

She signed: 'Please, don't speak, save your strength,"

She pleaded for him not to move too much.

'Y-You waited...You waited hours... For me...?" He thought,his eyes widening.

Her eyes widened as well.

'I can read his mind!" She thought.

She reciprocated his glance.

'Yes, I got this pit in my stomach that something was wrong! Something wasn't right! S-So I ran and ran, And I...I found you...with this black substance dripping from your mouth,So...I...I took you here and...the rest is history..." She rambled in her mind.

He tried to sit up but Ruby turned around to catch him when he started to sway.

'P-Promise me...something..." He struggled to get out.

He weakly lifted his hand Ruby softly took it into hers.

'What is it...?" She asked in her mind.

'P-Promise m-me...th-...that you-...y'll never leave me..." Jethro struggled to say.

She teared up and mouthed:

'I promise"

He smiled as his eyes grew heavy.

'Th-...Thank you...R-Ruby..." He almost wheezed out before letting the darkness take over.

She tenderly stroked his head and held his limp hand tight.

'I promise I won't leave you..." She mouthed, wet, hot tears burning her cheeks.

She did this for hours into the night, staying by his side, not taking her eyes off of him for a second.So attentive she was of his mannerisms  and movements.

She saw him turn his head left to right in discomfort.She held her breath and elevated him,she poked his back and watched as he breathed in pain.

She held him to where his nose touched her neck.He breathed comfortably as his face softened. When he started to cough she wiped the substance off his lips and patted his higher back. 

She needed to softly slap herself to stay awake through the night.

She drowsily fluttered her eyes as the morning approached.

She lowered him a bit and patted his cheeks.

He weakly fluttered his eyes open as she cupped his cheek.

His eyes widened.

She actually stayed...
