This is it, my chance to come out on top. Blake has been two steps ahead of me since classes began, but these evaluations are my chance to go from number two to number one. By the end of the day, I Donovan Ignus Elroy will be at the top of my class. I will show my professors and fellow students what I can really do, and when the time comes I will have my pick of Houses.
"Students to me!" Osborn called out from the field. He stood atop a large circular stage with 12 other people. The other professors I assumed. They all watched the evaluations, I mean, that is the point.
The rest of our class started to gather around. There were only a few dozen kids because of the way the fledgling class was divided up. The splitting up of the class give more opportunity for one on one time with the teachers in preparations for the first exam. After which I am told that the different groups all get dumped into the general school population.
"As this groups homeroom teacher, the responsibility of presiding over this evaluation fall onto my shoulders. In a few moments, the field will split into three equal stations. You will all be asked to pick a station to start in and upon completing your station, move on to the next station in a clockwise fashion. In the name of efficiency, please divide yourselves as evenly as possible."Although these evaluations do not actually impact your academic record, I would advise your taking them seriously. Your teachers and peers are watching. Opinions and impressions will be formed. This is an opportunity for you and us alike to see where your skills have developed, and where you may still need improvement."
One of the professors raised a wooden staff and taped it to the ground, causing clear barriers to form three separate areas.
Osborn spoke again before turning his attention back to the other teachers. "May you all perform admirably."
Ignoring history, the three areas probably relate to the other three classes. A test of kest, a test of spell work, and a physical test. Professor Dragonhide is already favoring one of the arenas. That's most likely the physical one. I want to make sure I do that one last. Combat training is my worst class, meaning I need to make it my last and most memorable performance.
"Donnie! We're going to get in line over there come on." Xander said pointing to the nearest arena.
"No, I'm gonna start over there instead." I pointed to the area to the right of the combat arena.
"Why?" David asked.
"Because I want to save the physical evaluation for last." I smiled at the words. I cracked the code and now they knew it too.
"K."
"Kest craft it is," Xander said heading off to the arena.
The way I saw it my kestal was 3rd in the class, behind David and Blake. Blake had already lined up at a different station, but as long as I go after David, I can make sure I'm in their minds for as long as possible. That is the key, you need to make an impression and make it last.
"So you guys ready for this?" I asked making sure I was behind Xander and David.
"Ya, I'm not sure what to expect, but I think I've covered all of my bases," said Xander.
"What about you David? You're still having trouble casting spells right?" I asked.
"I got this."
"You've got this?""I got this." He repeated.
"Okay, so we are going to dominate these evals, am I right!" Neither responded. "Screw you guys."
"Well if we are going to 'dominate,' looks like now's the time." David pointed to the professors stand, as Osborn loomed overhead and began to speak.
