Year 2018

"I should say I'm very impressed with your daughter, Mr Manoban." The headmistress, Mrs Jung said as she flipped through a folder that contain all the certificates Lisa had achieved throughout her school year.

"Ah, thank you. I had brought some trophy for her academics and sports too." Lisa's father said picking up a box and placed it on the headmistress table.

"Which one should I show? Maybe this, it's from the national maths-"

"Mr Manoban, there's no need for that. We are honoured to have such a student like Lisa to join our school."

"Ah, I'm sure she would love to."

"Sir, this is about Lisa. So I'm going to ask her myself." Mrs Jung said and looked at Lisa who was quiet the whole time.

"Lisa, would you like to join our school?"

"Dad, I don't understand. Why do I need to transfer here? I want to go back to the old school. I have friends there and you also teach there, it's more convenient."

"Lisa-"

"Besides, It's expensive. I don't think we can afford it."

"If it's about money, don't worry about it. I will take care of it." Her father reassured her.

"No, it's gonna cost $10,000 per year."

"Ms Lisa, I'm sure it cost approximately $9000 per year." Mrs Jung said.

"Yeah, but if we calculate the subway fare, foods, uniform, stationary and-" Lisa was rambling on and on about the cost and her father was trying to stop her by pinching her hand only to have his hand swatted away from her's.

"Okay, how about we give you a scholarship? You won't have to worry about it right?" Mrs Jung suggested.

Lisa looked at her father and he nod at her.

"Okay then." Lisa finally agreed.

"Silly girl, don't worry about the cost and just focused on your study." Her father whispered causing Lisa to chuckle.

-

"Next please!" The photographer said.

Lisa was standing in line to have her school ID picture taken. When it was her turn she walked up to the chair and sat on it with a burgundy background behind her.

"Just look at the camera and smile." The photographer said once again.

Ever since a child, Lisa didn't care much about appearance. She would rather enjoy and spend her time on studies than to spend it on makeup or dress up which is useless to her.

Lisa just wear a blank face and looked at the camera, hoping to just get it done with.

"Wait!" Suddenly a girl voice exclaimed.

"What do you want student?"

The girl walk towards Lisa, and tried to help her look better for the school ID. But Lisa flinched back a bit at the sudden skinship and looked at the girl weirdly.

"It's okay. We're going to have this school ID for two years, so you should look better." The girl said and moved Lisa's baby hairs away from her face.

"Sir, can I look at the camera?" The girl asked the photographer and he nodded.

"Take off your glasses." The girl said again and Lisa just obeyed what she said.

"That's better! Thank you sir." The girl said and went back to her line.

After taking the picture, Lisa looked at the girl from aside when it was her turn to take the picture.

After she was done, she spotted Lisa staring at her so she quickly rush towards Lisa causing Lisa to look at her with wide eyes.

"You're a new student right? I've never seen you before."

"Yes." Lisa answer bluntly.

"Welcome! I'm Kim Jisoo."

"Lalisa Manoban. Just call me Lisa."

"Great! I guess I'll see you next time." Jisoo said and waved at her enthusiastically before running away.
