20- Trouble because of you

『Year 2019』

"Hey guys!" All of them just finished another round of practice for the STIC exam and was leaving the warehouse, walking down the stairs when Lisa called out.

"See you tomorrow at 1 pm." 

"Have you lost it? The flight's at 11 pm. What's the rush?" Taehyung asked.

"There is one more thing we need to rehearse." Lisa said.

The next day, all of them gathered in the warehouse again.

"That's enough. You just can't keep on grilling the innocent! You must be enjoying... seeing the innocent cry like this." Taehyung sobbed, covering his face with his hands.

"That's too much, Taehyung. Way too much." Lisa scoffed jokingly while Jisoo was trying to hold her laugh at the back. Jungkook is just shaking his head with Taehyung's tactic.

"I've used up all my cards. You guys act as if we really got caught. I told you I understand... if you get caught, we'll blame only you." Taehyung explained.

"Last question before heading to the airport."

"Last question..." Taehyung exclaimed and take a deep breath, whispering "In character...." Then slapped his hands together, placing his elbow on the table.

"What if Jungkook gets caught? What will you say?" Lisa asked, as if she's an officer interrogating Taehyung. 

"That's even more far-fetched. I'm not even friends with him. I've seen him around school for 4-5 years. I've never seen him with friends. He looks like a douchebag. Weirdo. He even got beaten up and ended up in a landfill." Taehyung was making up stories, lying until the last part. 

Suddenly the atmosphere change. Jungkook was breathing heavily when he heard what Taehyung said at the end.

"Are we finished?" Taehyung asked, oblivious to what he blurted out.

Without waiting, Jungkook pounced on Taehyung. He jump over the table, grabbing Taehyung's collar. The impact caused them to fall backwards. Jungkook did not hesitate to throw punches at Taehyung.

Both girls were shocked to say the least.

"Stop it! Jungkook! Stop it! I told you to stop, get off him!" Lisa tried to stop both boys from fighting more, but Jungkook was so furious he elbowed Lisa in the face when trying to push her away. 

Finally realizing what he had done, Jungkook backed away from Taehyung and vice versa. Jisoo immediately run towards her boyfriend to help him.

"What the hell is wrong with you? You're the one who told me to say this. So, why are you mad at me?" Taehyung yelled when he stand up. Immediately, Jungkook tried to jump on the other boy again, but Lisa step in, stopping Jungkook.

"Tae, stop..." Jisoo said, trying to stop the fight but it was useless since Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's shirt.

"Why?" Taehyung challenged.

"I..." 

"You what?"

"I never told anyone that I woke up in a landfill!" Jungkook shouted out of anger. Immediately, Taehyung release his grip on Jungkook's shirt. Lisa then hold Jungkook's arms, trying to comfort him.  

"Now you know what I'm mad about! You all set this up, right? You guys set me up so I couldn't get the scholarship. All of you were in it, right? You guys knew, right?" Jungkook keep shouting, on the verge of tears. He grabbed Lisa by the shoulder, yanking her in front of him since she was behind him trying to hold him down from fighting. 

"You knew, right?!" He look at Lisa, asking for answer but the girl could only look at Jungkook, on the verge of crying too.

"Why aren't you answering?" Jungkook shouted one last time, swatting Lisa's hand from him and walk away.

"Jungkook! Calm down, Jungkook." Taehyung go after the boy.

"I don't freaking want to hear from you again!"

"Jungkook, wait! Let's talk! Calm down, calm down." Taehyung tried to calm Jungkook who was breathing heavily.

"You okay? I'm sorry, Jungkook. I'm sorry. I didn't think they'd be so rough on you. Jungkook, hear me out. You'll still take the STIC, right?" 

"Forget the damn STIC!" Jungkook yelled.

"Jungkook... Jungkook, listen to me."

"You, listen to me! It's just me and my mom. She's like a hunchback, doing laundry. You... I'm not rich like you. The scholarship was my dream. My dream for my mom to be comfortable. So, fuck you!" Jungkook yelled for the umpteenth time today.

"Jungkook, if I don't pass the STIC, my dad will kill me. Please Jungkook, please."

"Then, send those thugs to beat up your dad!" Jungkook exclaimed, finally leaving the warehouse, slamming the door.

"Weren't you the one who told me you needed him? If I didn't play dirty, do you think he'd help?" Taehyung said to no one in particular, turning around to face both the girls that was left in the warehouse.

Lisa was speechless, the only thing on her mind was Jungkook. So, she run out the warehouse looking for the said boy. Jisoo also run after her friend, leaving Taehyung alone in the warehouse.

"Lisa! Let's talk first!" Jisoo said, running down the stairs.

"Were you in on this?" Lisa asked immediately.

"No, I had no clue. But, Please try to understand Taehyung. He did it because he wanted to help you with your plan..." 

"Without considering who would get hurt?!" Lisa scoffed. She couldn't believe her best friend.

"Jisoo, return everyone's money. I'm pulling out." 

"Wait, Lisa. Calm down. Okay. I respect your decision. It's okay. No more clients, okay? Just the three of us. the original plan." Jisoo tried to persuade her friend.

"Don't you understand? When I said no, I meant no." Lisa exclaimed.

"Fine. Up to you then. I just have one request. Don't be mad at me. If I had half of your brain, I wouldn't do something this stupid. Please..." Jisoo begged crying as she holds onto Lisa's clasped hands.

"The flight will leave in three hours. Let's go." Jungkook said, walking past Lisa when they met on the flyover.

"Jungkook?" Lisa called for the boy's name confusedly. In her tone, the boy could literally hear her questioning.

"I'll go through with it. At least there's money in it. I won't get beaten up for free."

"What if I told you that... I don't wanna do it anymore." Lisa said.

"I'm not asking you. The reason why I'm here is because of you. You're why I ended up in that landfill. All of this shit is because of you. Don't you feel responsible for what you started?" The sweet Jungkook was no longer there anymore. He was spitting facts and it was like a bullet to Lisa's chest as she finally nodded, taking up the responsibility of what she has started.
