Countdown to Year 2019

Couples, families, friends, relatives all gathered around the city center for the countdown. Children awaiting the fireworks, parents chatting while some of them going after their children. Everyone looks happy waiting for a new year, a new beginning.

A new beginning...

That's what Lisa is looking for.

Walking aimlessly around the park alone with a sulking face definitely earn a few stares from the passer-by.

Looking around her surroundings to see all the happy faces makes Lisa feel even more sad.

After the event that happened at school, she had an argument with her father. Her father also told her to return all the money to her so-call 'students' after he found out the real truth about the piano lesson.

Lisa looked at her watch that said it's 11:50 pm and decided to find a spot further away from the crowd and sit down waiting for the firework.

Lisa was guilty...

She just broke her own rule...

Lisa was thinking about literally anything.

Perhaps being friends with Jisoo was a bad decision. Jisoo was the one that made her break her own rule, cheating. Or maybe it's Taehyung that offered to pay Lisa if she helped him. But Jisoo was a good friend, she was there for Lisa when she needed help or was going through a rough time.

 Lisa can't blame Jisoo...

Jisoo was the sweetest girl she ever met...

"A penny for your thought?" Someone said from behind Lisa causing her to snap back into reality.

"Shit!" Lisa exclaimed and turned around only to be met with the familiar big doe brown eyes. Lisa swear she could see a galaxy in his eyes.

The boy just laughed and sat down beside her. Both of them not talking, just witnessing what was happening in front of them.

"Are you mad at me?" Jungkook suddenly asked, breaking the ice.

"Mad at you? What for?" Lisa asked, acting clueless but she had a hunch that she knows what he's talking about and she's not liking it.

"About the scholarship..." Jungkook mumbled softly.

"You deserved it anyways." Lisa said shrugging it off. But deep inside, she feel sad that she lost the opportunity.

"Lisa-"

"Look, it's over and I just want to forget it and move on. Would you please do me a favour and not talk about it anymore?" Lisa sighed.

"Okay then." Jungkook sighed, defeated.

"What are you doing here, Mr Jeon?"

"I could ask you the same."

"Well, I'm here to watch the firework and hope to have a good year in 2019."

"Same." Jungkook chuckled.

After that, the awkwardness came back, no one talked and neither of them know how to continue the conversation.

They just waited for the firework, enjoying each other company. Both of them just looked at the ground as if it is interesting not until sounds of people cheering and sounds of fireworks resonated around the park.

Jungkook first instincts is to look at Lisa. He saw how her big doe eyes lit up and a smile slowly crept up her face, making her look to pretty and cute.

Jungkook follow every move of Lisa. He saw her eyes travelled to a couple not far from them. They were kissing. Jungkook remember his mother used to say that kissing your crush on a new year is a sign that your crush will like you back if she/he didn't reject the kiss.

"They're such a great couple, isn't it?" Jungkook decided to ask.

"Yeah, they're perfect for each other." Lisa muttered.

"That could be us too, you know?" Jungkook stated. He didn't know where he got his confidence but that's the least he could care about right now.

"W-what? Are you drunk?" Lisa faced Jungkook and pink blush painted her face.

"No-" Jungkook said and grabbed Lisa face towards him, both hands on her cheeks. Without warning or anything, he kissed her.

He didn't expect anything, so he was about to pull away but Lisa did the otherwise. She pulled his neck deepening the kiss.

Only to pull away to catch their breaths.

"Wow, that was good." Jungkook mumbled.

"I'm not gonna lie, you're a good kisser." Lisa said and both of them burst laughing.

But neither of them talked about the kiss or try to labelled what they had.
