Watching my friends exit one by one seemed to last an eternity, and I was well prepared when it came my turn to leave the box.
I was prepared to leave the love box; it had been quite some time since I had called it that, or even heard someone call it that, although it felt right in my heart. The love box was meant for built for couples, and Kai and I were lucky enough to have found each other in it.
"Are you sure that everything is fine?" Kai asked me, after I crawled to the opening to leave.
I stopped in my tracks and said, "Everything is perfect." Then I continued venturing through the vent, until I reached the cover. Slowly I peeled it off its spot; then I climbed out and plugged the hole in the wall back up with its cover, leaving Kai to think alone in the box.
My friends stood in the hallway, waiting for my arrival, and I joined them in time for us to begin our walk to the cafeteria on the quest for food. Our journey ended quickly as we entered the empty cafeteria, staring at the empty tables; the thought of not eating saddened me.
My stomach grumbled on our way to the library for practice, and every few steps I heard one of my friends stomachs too. Maybe waiting for them to have woken up on their own was a bad idea, oh well, it was too late anyways.
We entered the empty library and stood in the middle of the room for a few minutes; then we began practicing the routine without Ryan. In the middle of our routine we were interrupted by footsteps and small talk.
I looked towards the doorway and watched Ryan and Nicki enter the library; there eyes flew up to meet mine and their chattering came to a halt. They continued their walk into the library, but they didn't say another word, focusing their eyes on me until they reached the glass. Their quiet chatting started again, but I couldn't hear a single word they spoke.
The routine finally came to an end, and my friends and I joined Ryan and Nicki by the glass wall. Both of them immediately stopped talking as we joined the group; they're mouth and gestures seemed to have been encouraging an argument before we reached them.
"How are you ladies today?" Nicki asked after a minute of silence, something was weird about the air of their muteness, and the feeling it gave me was unwelcomed.
"Carrie," Claire said; then I turned around to see she had entered the library. "Can you come with me?"
"Of course," I replied; the appearance of Claire had changed my attitude luckily, and I no longer felt unwelcomed. Claire turned back to the hallway and waited, while I rushed over to her side and began walking down the hall with her.
I turned and caught a glimpse of the jaw drops from my friends, before Claire led me out of the library and down the hall. We turned the corner and almost got to the end of Suicide Hall when a few words stopped us from turning the next corner and entering the meeting room.
"Courtney you're crazy!" Sadie yelled; the recognition of the words made me turn around to see the commotion.
Courtney had a foot inside of one of the suicide rooms; they had gone through with the plan without me, but I was part of the plan, I thought to myself. None of this could happen without me; I checked Claire's gaze, and she was also fixed on my two friends.
