I Didn't Mean It

 "So tell me, how are you and Heath?" Natalie asked Mariah as they sat in the backyard. They were having some girl time as the guys filmed inside.

"We're doing really well, I honestly think he will propose soon," she gushed with the biggest smile on her face. The two girls squealed at the thought of Mariah getting engaged to Heath, they have all been waiting for it to happen. After a while they decided to head inside to see what the guys were up to.

As they walked towards David's room they heard someone say Natalie's name. The two girls looked at each other confused before pressing their ears against the door to listen.

"So Nat tells me things are going really good between the two of you," they heard David say and then they heard a sigh.

"I don't know man," that was Jeff. Natalie got really nervous, she really liked Jeff and thought that everything happening between the two of them was perfect. She bit her lip as she concentrated on the voices inside the room. Jeff continued, "Lately she has been super clingy and I just kind of need my space."

Natalie felt her heart drop. Has she been super clingy? They haven't hung out more than they usually do, how was she being clingy? Mariah looked over at Natalie in concern, she could see the internal battle going on in Natalie's head. Natalie shook her head and started walking towards the kitchen but Mariah pulled her back, "Are you okay?"

Natalie just nodded her head and continued to the kitchen. Mariah went to David's room to get Heath and as soon as she opened the door they got silent.

"Heath, can we get going?" she asked while looking around the room. Her eyes landed on Jeff and everyone could immediately feel tension radiating off her stare at him making Jeff shift around as if he was uncomfortable. Heath got off the bed and walked Mariah out of the room quickly before anything could start. They both waved to Natalie on the way out before they heard Jeff say was going to leave too.

Natalie quickly walked out the back door in hopes that he would just leave without talking to her but of course it didn't go as planned. He followed her outside not even a minute later.

"Came out to say bye, I'm gonna head home," he said leaning down to give her a quick kiss. She quickly turned her head so he couldn't kiss her and said, "Okay bye." To say Jeff was in shock would be an understatement, she usually could never reject a kiss from him but she was upset.

"What's wrong?" he asked but she just shrugged and sat down again, he was getting annoyed so with a sigh he turned around and walked away.

-2 days later-

Natalie hasn't talked to Jeff at all since that day at David's, she constantly ignored his messages and rainchecked on all of their plans. Even if it wasn't the best way, she wanted to show him that she wasn't clingy.

Jeff came over later that day to hang out and when he saw Natalie he got really upset, he had no idea what he did to make her ignore him. So the whole time he was at David's he was trying to get Natalie alone so they could talk but she knew if she talked to him she would forgive him right away.

Her plan to avoid him worked out til David took the two of them and shoved them into a room with a lock so they couldn't get out.

"Can you tell me what I did to make you upset with me?" he asked her, he saw her have a battle with herself before taking a deep breath.

"I just wanted to give you the space you needed." Her response caught him off guard, what?

"What are you talking about?" he asked but it only made Natalie irritated, how could he not know what he did? She thought back to the other day only to have her eyes start to water. He went to hug her but shook her head and took a step back. She knew she was probably overreacting but she didn't care.

"I'm too clingy for you," she whispered as she tried to stop herself from letting the tears go. It all hit him like a truck as he remembered when he said those words the other day, he didn't know she heard him say that and he didn't even mean it.

"Nat, I didn't mean it at all," he saw her roll her eyes after he said, "I'm serious. I was just having a bad day and trying to be mad at someone else rather than myself. That's not really an excuse but I am so sorry I really didn't mean it." She looked down at her feet as she thought about what he said and she hated that she wanted to forgive him so easily.

"It really hurt me to hear you say that, you know?" Jeff nodded and grabbed her hand, "I know. I'm so sorry baby." She just nodded her head and wrapped her arms around him in a hug, he sighed in relief while wrapping his arms around her too.

"You're not clingy at all, I always want you around." He felt her smile against his chest and he placed a kiss on the top of her head.

"I love you Nat." She lifted her head to look at him with the brightest smile and said, "I love you too."
