Chapter 2: the Eyes of Shisui

It's been four years since that moment. Naruto is now seven years old. His outfit is quite similar to his previous attire, with orange stripes on the black jacket, and on the inside of the jacket is also orange. Beneath this jacket, which he leaves unzipped, he wears a white t-shirt, and a bolt tied to a string around his neck. Naruto still has the orange Uzumaki swirl on the back of the jacket. He also wears a belt, which holds an orange chokutō, that is 22cm long, and is obviously named the Orange Maelstrom.

Naruto also recently started the Academy. Being friends with Sasuke Uchiha, and always hanging around their district has helped his image in the village, but not by much.

The blonde Uzumaki, and Kurami decided against having her out of the seal for now. Naruto even grew a crush on Kurami, which made Kurami very happy for some reason. Despite being a thousand year old beast made of chakra, she hasn't really explored the feelings of love, and happiness.

Anyway it's late at night, as Naruto, and Sasuke just finished training. Shisui Shunshins in front of Naruto, and gives him a scroll. He says, "If I don't come home, open this scroll, and do exactly as it says. Will you do that Otōto?"

Naruto nods, as Shisui disappears from sight. Sasuke asks, "What just happened?"

Naruto shrugs, and says, "Shisui-nii probably has a really dangerous mission to do." But inside Naruto is extremely worried about his brother. Shisui has never done anything like this.

At the Uchiha Clan Compound Gate, they split up, to go home. Once home, Naruto takes a shower, and goes to sleep. Once asleep, Naruto enters his mindscape, to talk to Kurami. Kurami could tell Naruto is worried about Shisui. It was all that the two talked about during the night.

When morning came, Naruto frantically searched the house to try and find Shisui, but the Uchiha could not be found. So Naruto opens the scroll, only to find a tube full of liquid, with Shisui's eyes inside said tube, and a letter. It read:

Dear Otōto,

This is the beginning of the downfall of the Uchiha Clan. Following the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's Attack, Konohagakure's leadership began to suspect that the Uchiha were behind the attack due to the Sharingan's ability to control the beast. From that point onwards, the Uchiha were placed under close surveillance. This mistrust and isolation from the rest of the village created feelings of ill-will amongst the Uchiha, and ultimately rekindled the hatred harboured towards the e-influenced government. As such, the Uchiha, led by Fugaku Uchiha, began planning a coup d'état to overthrow the Konoha leadership.

In preparation for the coup, the Uchiha started inserting its members within Konoha's command structure to act as spies: Itachi Uchiha was placed in the ANBU, the direct arm of the Hokage, however, Itachi did not agree with the Uchiha's plans; believing the coup would only escalate into another Shinobi World War. As such, he turned double-agent, providing Konoha with information on the Uchiha's plans. The Third Hokage, who did not agree with the treatment of the Uchiha following the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's Attack, tried to find a peaceful resolution with the clan. Danzō Shimura, however, did not believe negotiations would solve anything and felt eliminating all the Uchiha would cause the least bloodshed.

The Uchiha noticed Itachi's strange behavior and tasked me with keeping an eye on him. Since I am a close friend of Itachi, I shared his opposition to the coup. When peace talks started to break down, I attempted to use my Mangekyō Sharingan's Kotoamatsukami to force the Uchiha's leaders to change their minds. Danzō felt this was a waste of Kotoamatsukami's rare usage, and tried to take my eyes.

Anyway if your reading this I'm dead. I was poisoned by Danzō Shimura, after I attacked him because he wants my Sharingan, and sent his ROOT ANBU to attack me. I was soon ambushed trying to escape. With the help of Itachi I was able to. When we got to the Naka River, I commited suicide. I'm sorry Otōto, I really am, but I want you to implant my eyes into your sockets. I want my eyes, now your eyes to protect Konoha. I know that the Kyuubi will help assimilate our DNA, letting you activate, and deactivate your new Sharingan. (You mumble in your sleep. I've heard the name Kurami, and Kyuubi many times coming from your room.) Also you now own everything that I once did. Also when Itachi kills the Uchiha, protect his Otōto. Only show this letter to the Sandaime.
