I got in the car, feeling a mix of anxiety and almost carsick as we approached the airport at a snail's pace. The prospect of facing the infamous 47 battalion had me on edge. While I was excited about the mission, the stories of every rifleman who had gotten close to them ending up dead or missing weighed heavily on my mind.

My thoughts were also preoccupied with hiding from Daryll until I could unlock my powers. The military discovering my hybrid status would mean certain death on sight. The fear of such a grim fate sent shivers down my spine, and I tried my best to push those thoughts aside.

At the airport, I was greeted by the commander of the 47th battalion, CPT. Charlie, who extended his hand in a reassuring handshake. As I gathered my bags and boarded the plane, he spoke comforting words, acknowledging my fear but promising to ensure my safety throughout the mission. "You will get to meet the rest of the crew when we get to Afghanistan," he said, "I understand you're scared; it's evident in your eyes, son. But we will make sure nothing happens to you, Nolan."

Grateful for his support, I replied with a simple "Thank you, Sir," before settling into my seat. The captain advised me to get some rest, assuring me that he would wake me up upon landing in Afghanistan. The exhaustion from the weight of my secret and the stress of the upcoming mission took its toll, and I instantly fell asleep on the uncomfortably stiff chairs.

The journey to Afghanistan was long and arduous, with the drone of the plane's engines providing a constant backdrop to my dreams. In my restless sleep, I found myself revisiting memories of my past, of a time when I was unaware of my hybrid heritage and the power that lay dormant within me.

As the plane cut through the clouds, I woke up to a sense of determination. I knew that I had to face my fears and embrace my destiny. The uncertainty of what lay ahead still gnawed at me, but I also understood that I couldn't allow fear to dictate my actions.

Afghanistan awaited, and with it, the challenges that would test my abilities and resilience. I steeled myself for what was to come, hoping that I could navigate the dangers ahead while concealing my true nature. Little did I know that this mission would be a turning point in my life, one that would reveal the hero I was destined to become.
