Death

Zooming inside the base, the hedgehog only gave a smirk. This was Sonic, and his important duty was to stop Dr. Robotnik of his evil doings. He was the hero of Mobius, and he sworn on his life to protect this planet and all of it's lifeforms. He takes down some of Eggman's before the hedgehog slides to a halt. With a confused look, he stares at the evil man's blue print works that were detailed and precise. It was a depiction of a hedgehog, and right next to it was a young female teen. Sonic scratches his head, trying to make some sense out of it before turning around to the sound of a tv screen turning on. The gloved hand clenches into a fist, as emerald eyes held their guard as a man with a very long mustache came on with his Santa laugh. 

" Well, well, well! Isn't it my arch-nemesis, the star of the show, Sonic the Hedgehog! "

A slight frown turns into a prideful smirk as he crosses his arms.

" Ain't it the one and only, RrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroBUTTnik! So, Eggy, what's your plan this time, hm? "

He rubs his nose with his thumb, as the old man behind the screen growls and slams his fist against the table behind the screen. But then, Eggman only smiles evilly, calming down way too quickly for Sonic's liking, as he puts his feet up on the counter.

" Well, I've created a ticking time bomb in that base. You have 40 minutes to find the only way out, and no the door you came out is not the exit ticket. If you don't leave, I will finally be able to be Eggmanland with a rodent like you out of the picture! "

Sonic's eyes widen in fear before looking to his right and starts running that direction. He was going to search for the bomb and try to disable it with the help of Tails. After all, he needed to live so he can be there for his friends, his rivals, to stop all of the villains. Besides, he was only 15, he still had his whole life ahead of him, he had his future planned. Scanning the room he was in, he tried to search for clues to where the bomb could be hidden. All of the crook and nannies of the place with his super speed. Sonic sighs as Tails starts to radio him in.

" Sonic! You aren't out yet, is there any problems? Does Knuckles need to come in?  "

Wiping his sweaty forehead, he tries not to show his nervousness through.

" 'Fraid I can't let you send Knucklehead in. Apparently, Egghead made a bomb and hid it somewhere. And from what time I spent searching for it, I have 34 minutes left to either find the bomb or find the only exit he made. " 

Panic soon rose in the fox as he starts yelling into the walkie-talkie. 

" What! Find the exit Sonic or I'll have to look for it by going inside. "

" Tails... I don't want you to come in, even if I don't make it. "

Knuckles growls were audible through the walkie-talkie, as he grabs it. 

" Look, Sonic, we ain't leaving you behind! We're going to get'cha out of there before it explodes, got that?  "

Sonic snickers. 

" Wow, who knew that you cared so much about me Knuckles. "  

He only hears huffing before the radio turned off, guessing that Tails didn't want a him and Knuckles having an argument. He taps his foot and checks his time, 30 minutes left. Worry grew more and more every time the minutes gone down. 20 minutes past, and Sonic was panicking at this point. He had 10 minutes left, and he had no idea where the exit was nor where the bomb was. He goes into a room where it was dark, as he turns on the lights and gasping. Right in front of Sonic was a young, yellow-gold female hedgehog, who wore a blue test subject spandex suit. She was in a tube attached to wiring in it as he goes up to it and presses his hands on the glass. For some reason, he had a strong urge to just release her, and release her was what he was going to do. Sonic goes to the table next to him and presses the big red button, which releases the young hedgehog. He quickly catches her, before noticing the clothes on a dresser next to the tube. Grabbing the clothes, and looking away and gets her out of the spandex and into the more comfortable dress. 

He sighs before the sirens blares out 5 minutes before self destruction. With determination, he needed to find an exit to save this girl. He speeds around the base for 4 more minutes until the alarms started to count down the seconds. Making a small victory noise, he finds the exit but it started to close. He saw Knuckles' gloved hands trying to hold up the closing the door as he realizes the hard truth. He wasn't going to make  it, as he looks down at the passed out girl in his arms. With a look of determination, he may die but he was sure as hell not going to let this girl die here. He runs and slides, pushing the body out gently before biting Knuckles hands. He sees them retreat back as the door closes in front of him. Sonic closes his eyes as he hears them running away as the siren counts down to one. 

With Tails, Knuckles, and the mysterious girl, they had gotten a good distance away from the base before it exploded. Tails looks back, with the look of horror and agony as tears fall down his face. He sobs his little heart out as Knuckles has an empty look in his eyes while carrying the unconscious girl. Looking at the girl, he absolutely knew why Sonic sacrificed his life for her, as he probably didn't want her life to end. Once they were back at the fox's house, Tails collapses onto the floor and continues to sob as the echidna sets the girl down on the couch. Going over to the crying 8 years old, he comforts him as best as he could. Today was a day that they would remember, no matter how much they wanted to forget it...
