**LMITE starts off a lil slow but eventually it does get rolling... :)*
I opened my eyes to the sight of pale, early morning sunlight escaping my blinds. I blinked a couple times, taking in the dinged white of my room walls. I lay in bed for more time than I should have; I was never one for mornings.
I sighed and turned over on my side, reaching to grab my phone off of the dresser. It was nine a.m. on a Saturday morning. I climbed out of bed and dragged myself into the shower.
The scalding hot water hit my skin and I nearly moaned in ecstasy. A hot shower was the only thing that could get me going in the mornings. Once I'd lathered and scrubbed my body, I went to work on my hair. I applied a generous amount of shampoo to my brown hair and worked it into my scalp. After I rinsed, I turned off the water and grabbed a towel, carefully wrapping it around my waist before going to find clothes.
"SURPRISE!"
"AH!" I screamed in shock as I flew back against my bathroom door. I looked up to see my friend Jamie, beaming as if she hadn't given kme a heart attack. Jamie was one of my closest friends. Well, one of my only friends. I'd known Jamie since we were in elementary school and she'd always been the social butterfly to my flighty, moth-like tendencies. She brought out the best in me. But as of right now she was bring out my murderous tendencies.
"Good morning" She continued as lively as ever. It took everything in me not to deck her in the mouth.
"Good morning" I retorted emptily. "Why exactly are you trying to give me a stroke at nine in the morning? And how did you get into my room?"
"It's ten now and your mom let me in. And I wanted to see if you wanted to go to a kickback tonight."
I stared at her. She snuck into my home unannounced so she could invite me to a party. She could've texted me and gotten the same response. I got up, making sure everything stayed covered up by my towel. I headed towards my dresser, searching for something decent to wear.
"No" I replied dryly. I really wasn't one for parties. I didn't like being around a lot of people and the thought of spending a night cramped and sweaty just wasn't appealing.
"Davy," She whined. "You never wanna go out."
I paused my search. "You know how I feel about parties."
She pleaded at me with her wide, round eyes. "Please Davy, it's gonna be a really small get together. We can even leave early"
"Jamie," I began, ready to give her the same speech about boundaries that I gave every time she tried to get me to do something I didn't want to.
"But we haven't hung out in forever!" She interrupted. "Senior year is gonna come to an end and you're gonna wish we had spent more time together."
We stared at each other intensely for a moment.
"Forget it" She said, getting ready to head out the door.
"Wait" I called out.
I stopped my pretend search for clothes and sighed. She was right. As of late I'd been spending more and more time alone. It wasn't anything against her, I just needed more time alone to figure out things. Life, college, what I was going to wear out.
I sighed
"Whose kickback is it?"
