I didn't tell Jamie what had happened.

I figured that it was best to leave things as they were. Besides, I was grateful to have survived without a scratch.

"Hello?" Jamie dragged on. I realized I hadn't been paying any attention to what she had been saying.

"Sorry, I was in my own world"

"As usual," She said with an eye roll. "I was suggesting that we go out this weekend. You can even invite James."

Jamie wiggled her eyebrows and I felt my cheeks warm. James. My ordeal with Cain had kept me from texting him.

I bit my lip. "That'd be nice"

"Cain wouldn't like that though."

The thought popped into my brain suddenly. Why was I worried about what Cain thought? I mentally slapped myself. I needed to get Cain off of my
mind. Maybe a night out would be perfect.

I shot James a quick text to see if be wanted to go out this weekend. I stared out the window and lost myself in passing sights, and the sounds of wind.

For the next three days, Cain stared at me during first period. In the beginning of class, his gaze would burn the side of my face. Halfway through the period, he graced me with long gazes. It wasn't until Mr. Solomon cleared his throat or the bell rang for the end class that I was spared Cain's gaze. Somehow, during the third day I got used to it.

During a powerpoint, Cain turned his full attention to me. I had been a victim of his scrutiny for last two days. What was he staring at? I thought that after the ordeal in the bathroom, our interaction was over. I remember feeling suddenly invigorated. I slowly lifted my gaze to meet Cain's. My mouth instant went dry. Cain's eyes were deep and longing. His stern features were beautiful in the lowlight, seemingly set in marble. I felt flushed. The butterflies gathered in the pit of my stomach and I struggled to breathe. Cain took a deep breathe and his eyes flashed. I felt so conspicuous yet under Cain's gaze it didn't matter. I was so drawn to his intensity. It ignited a fire in my body that I couldn't understand. I could only smile awkwardly, before slowly lowering my gaze.

But as I looked away, Cain surprised me. His plump, pink lips were stretched into a semi-circle, exposing a single, perfectly chiseled dip in his cheek's flesh. Heat rushed from my cheeks to the tips of my ear. Cain Reynolds was smiling at me.

And not a sadistic smirk or sly smug. His was one of endearment. I cast my eyes downward towards my desk for the rest of class but my blush did not subside. Nor did the pressure between my thighs. The bell range to signify the end of class and I hurriedly gathered my things before slipping out the classroom door. I quickly paced to my locker, taking solace in the refuge of the small space. I gathered my breathe, waiting for my warmth to subside.

The smell of pine wafted across my nose. My breathe hitched and my fading blush regained its vigor.

"Cain" I spoke finally.

I turned to meet his gaze. There he stood, towering over me with the same fervent gaze. I couldn't speak. Someone cleared their throat. I shifted my gaze to discover Alexander standing behind Cain. I reddened even more.

"Cain." Alexander urged. I watched the interaction between the two taller boys. At Alexander's request Cain seemed to relax but continued to stare. Then, he spoke.

"I am having a small get together on Friday. You're invited." He said plainly.

I was speechless. "This has to be a joke right?"

Alexander interrupted."It's a game night but it's really low-key."

"So why was I invited?"
