"I'm so excited for this Potions class!" That would be the first and last time Thalia Scamander would utter such a sentence.

"Me too!" Eloise clapped her hands together and did a small spin whilst she was walking,

"But you already know what you're going to smell." Thalia pointed out and Eloise frowned,

"Not necessarily."

"Yes. You'll be all: I smell peppermint and leather and dog fur and cigarette smoke because I'm in love with Sirius Black and we're so predictable." Thalia imitated and Eloise stopped walking, crossing her arms with an outraged look on her face,

"First of all: we haven't admitted that we love each other yet."

"But you do."

"Besides the point." Eloise narrowed her eyes as Thalia just smirked, "Secondly: we are not predictable." Eloise said, affronted. "And third: how the fuck do you know exactly what my boyfriend smells like?"

"Because I spend as much time with him as you do." Thalia said matter-of-factly and Eloise just rolled her eyes with a scoff,

"Well now it's my turn to do an unflattering impression of you." Eloise smirked and cleared her throat, "I smell broomstick polish, chocoballs and shea butter because I'm in love with James Potter I just haven't admitted it to myself yet." Eloise wore a triumphant look as Thalia's mouth dropped open,

"BULLSHIT!"

"Please, Thals. That was spot on and you know it."

"No! I refuse to accept that." Thalia stuck her nose in the air and began walking to the dungeons, "And you missed Butterbeer." She muttered,

"HA! TRUE LOVE!"

Thalia was pouting as she sat in her Potions seat next to a snickering Eloise. She let out an annoyed huff and Eloise leant closer to her as she lowered her voice to a whisper,

"Are you huffing and puffing, Miss Scamander, because my rendition of what you'll smell was utterly accurate?"

"Fuck off, Eloise." Thalia grumbled and Eloise started giggling manically, attracting the attention of the boys sat in front of them.

"Lou? What are you laughing at?" Sirius asked with an amused smile as Remus eyed Thalia's murderous expression and Eloise took a breath with a grin still on her face,

"I predicted what Thalia would smell and- mmm mmph" the rest of her sentence was muffled by Thalia's hand being pressed against her mouth. Eloise's eyes narrowed and she bit Thalia's hand.

"Ow! Bitch." Thalia withdrew her hand and shook it as she and Eloise exchanged death stares,

"If I had a blocked nose, that would've killed me." Eloise said with a hint of a smile,

"Shame. I was betting on the fact that it's flu season." Thalia replied, one side of her mouth lifting slightly before the pair of them burst into laughter. Remus and Sirius wore the same entertained look on their faces as they watched the Thalia giggle into Eloise's shoulder whilst the latter's hair turned golden and bounced around her face. Sirius and Remus soon joined in with the laughter and the quartet were ignorant to a certain bespectacled boy watching with a frown at them all laughing together. James wasn't sat with Sirius because he had fought for a seat next to Lily Evans. Lily however, wasn't used to not having to shout at the boy for pestering her and followed his gaze to the two laughing tables.

"Are you alright, Potter?" She asked and James' head snapped to her, his scowl being replaced with his signature smirk,

"Why of course, Lily-Flower." He said with a wink and the girl rolled her eyes as she returned to her work. The smile soon slid off of his face as he turned to look at the giggling girl once more. The girl with her face blown open as she laughed even harder at something Remus had said. The girl who's hand was currently resting on the werewolf's shoulder. James Potter fancied Thalia Scamander...which just made everything a hell of a lot more complicated.

Slughorn was asking everyone what they smelled. Eloise had smelt exactly what Thalia had predicted apart from the smell of lavender and peaches - not very surprising. James, however had smelled something that wasn't personal to the redhead at his side - considerably more surprising. James had taken a large whiff of the potion and frowned as he recognised the smell of sea salt and coconut amongst the familiar scents of his sister and friends. Most people seemed indifferent when he revealed what he smelt but three people in particular were grinning like Cheshire cats. So much so that it rather frightened Thalia.

"Why are you three beaming like someone has just told you to fuck your celebrity crush?" Thalia questioned Eloise, Sirius and Remus and their smiled only widened,

"Because we have very astute senses." Remus chuckled and Eloise began doing a little dance in her seat casing Thalia to turn to her with a bewildered expression.

"Right! You're much too happy and I haven't seen Paul McCartney walk in so what is it?"

"Your celebrity crush is Paul McCartney?" Sirius' grin dropped like stinksap but Eloise continued with her wiggly dance,

"Do you know what you smell of, Thals?" She asked with a cheeky grin,

"Other than bullshit." Sirius muttered and Thalia smacked his head,

"No, dear Puff, what do I smell of?" Thalia put her chin on her palm and faked interest, "I really am dying to find out why you look like Peter when he's had too much cake."

"You, Thalia Charlotte Scamander, smell of sea salt and coconut." She clapped her hands together and waited for it to hit Thalia. The girl just sat there with a blank look on her face,

"And I'm supposed to care because..."

"Because that's what James smelt, you daft bimbo! Fucking hell do I have to spell everything out for you lot!" Eloise abruptly stopped her dancing (wiggling) and crossed her arms with a pout. Since the girl was determinedly staring straight ahead - despite Thalia poking her cheek for a good two minutes - the shorter girl decided to look to Sirius and Remus for help. The both of them had been watching with amused smiles as Thalia suffered and after being faced with one of her fiercest death stares, they gave in and told her the secret of stopping Eloise's sulk session.

"Eloise." Thalia leant forward but the girl made no response, other than a small huff of indignance, "I love you." Thalia smiled and Eloise's eyes softened and she turned to face her friend,

"I love you too. Now do you understand what happens next time I tell you something exciting and you don't get excited even though it's exciting?" She asked and Thalia shook her head dumbly, "Be excited." She smiled and Thalia let out a laugh at her dramatics, "You should also probably admit that you're in love with my brother but there's a time and place for that."
