"You're the one in the wrong, Prongs."
"Yes, thank you, Sirius." James said with hostility, rolling his eyes at how much of a mess he got himself into. "I'd figured that out when my twin sister decided she would rather spend time with a girl she's known for five months than me."
"You do need to apologise to Thalia, y'know. You really upset her." Remus bit into his piece of chocolate and looked at James over the top of his book, watching him pull faces and mumble angrily to himself,
"She hurt me too."
"By doing something that you had done to her first." Sirius pointed out and James stood from his, forcefully slamming a hand against the wall,
"Listen, I fucked up, I know! But instead of constantly reminding me how I pushed away the one person that I can imagine a future with can you give me some fucking advice and actually be my friends!?" James finished, his chest heaving and Sirius sighed, standing up as well,
"I'm going to find the girls."
"What the fuck, Pads!"
"You can't just get pissed at us because you made a shit mistake, mate." Sirius pointed a finger at him and clenched his jaw, narrowing his eyes dangerously "You can come and get me when you've calmed the fuck down and actually want help on how to properly apologise to Pup because she deserves better than a half-arsed 'sorry' from an angry little boy." with that he left the room.
"He's right you know." Remus said as he got off his bed and made his way towards the door,
"Where the fuck are you going?" James exclaimed and Remus looked back at him,
"Finding Robyn," he said simply,
"Well, how am I going to know how to apologise to Thalia!?"
"Ask Elle."
"She isn't speaking to me because of Thalia!"
"Then apologise to Thalia."
"You're so fucking unhelpful, Moony."
"Oh, boo hoo." the werewolf pouted before closing his book and completely disappearing down the stairs.
"Are you at least going to help me, Wormtail?" James threw his hands in the air and Peter shrugged,
"Ok."
"Really?" James asked and Peter nodded, grabbing some parchment and a quill from his bedside table,
"You need to write her a personal letter to show your devotion. So, first you need to make it clear to Thalia that you're a stupid, hypocritical dickhead that will immediately stop making her feel inadequate by directing all of your attention at Lily. Then, you should tell her how you really feel about her. Shower her in compliments, tell her what it is that makes you like her and admit that, really, you don't actually deserve her. Finally, buy her flowers and make a romantic picnic on top of the Astronomy Tower and beg for her forgiveness." Peter passed James the parchment and smiled at him, patting him on the shoulder, "Good luck." he said before leaving James alone in the dorm.
"What the fuck just happened?"
****
Thalia and Eloise were in their dorm room, listening to the Beach Boys and painting each other's nails as they hummed cheerfully along to the music.
"Do you think you'll ever forgive my moron brother?" Eloise asked as she painted her best friend's nails blue, her tongue sticking out in concentration.
"Mmm, maybe," Thalia shrugged and played with the ends of Elle's hair, "I like the dark green." she said, referring to the colour that Eloise had decided to change her normal brown locks to that day.
"Thanks!" the girl beamed, "What do you think James will have to do to make it up to you?"
"Cut off Evans' hair." she said quickly and Eloise snorted, "No, but in all honesty? Just make it clear to me that he's sorry and that he was wrong," Thalia said simply and Eloise looked up from her nails, "I'm not really a grudge holder."
"You're more than he deserves, y'know." Eloise shook her head and screwed the lid back on the nail varnish,
"Eh, I might be," Thalia hummed, "But I can't help that I really fucking like him."
"Who do you really fucking like?" a voice came from the doorway and the girls both looked over to see Sirius leaning against the doorframe, "Is it me?" he smirked and strolled over to sit next to Eloise,
"I do." his girlfriend smiled and kissed his cheek,
"I don't." Thalia raised a hand and Sirius raised an eyebrow,
"Sure you don't, Thals." he tapped her nose and she playfully tried to bite his hand.
"Where's in-the-wrong-Prongs?" Eloise asked and Sirius wrapped his arms around her and lifted her onto his lap,
"Back in our dorm punching walls and swearing a lot." he said casually and Eloise rolled her eyes,
"Why this time?"
"None of us will help him draft an apology to Pup." he smirked and Thalia pulled a face,
"Is he not capable of doing it himself?" she asked and Eloise and Sirius both laughed loudly,
"Please!" Sirius chuckled,
"If we left James to apologise to someone he'd probably just challenge them to a game of Quidditch and say whoever lost had to never get angry at the other person again." Eloise said and Sirius nodded in agreement,
"I'd be down for that." Thalia grinned.
"But you'd probably win and then he'd go back to swearing and punching things again." Sirius commented and Eloise hummed thoughtfully,
"He is a very angry boy."
"I said the very same thing to him about five minutes ago, my darling." Sirius smiled,
"Look at you two being all in sync." Thalia fake gagged and Eloise smirked,
"It's because we're in luuuurve." she sang and Sirius kissed her cheek,
"It is torture being in your company." Thalia pulled a face and Eloise giggled softly.
"Thalia," a voice interrupted the sound of Elle's laughter and everyone froze. "Ummm, can we talk please?" James rubbed the back of his neck and Thalia sent a wide-eyed look to Eloise.
"Yeaahhhh, sure." Thalia said unsurely and stood from Eloise's bed, waving goodbye to the couple who whispered wishes of good luck. The tension was palpable as Thalia crossed the room and Sirius seemed to have had enough as he suddenly shouted very loudly:
"If you cut his head off, Thals, can you put it on a spike so we can ward off evil spirits?"
"Like some kind of scarecrow." Eloise added and Thalia bit her lip to hold back a smile as she finally reached the door,
"Promise." she winked at her friends and they both sent her thumbs up as she followed James down the stairs, her heart pumping in her chest as a mixture of nervousness and excitement. She was either going to get an apology or an argument and she and James only seemed to be good at one of those things.
jeez this chapter is completely fuckin different from before - i literally rewrote this whole thing - but i like this much more :)
