The shuddering train ride was a bittersweet end to Thalia's first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was laughing at the playful banter exchanged between the four people that wiggled their way into her heart and became the best friends she had ever had. Not to mention the strong arm secured around her waist that belonged to her first long-term boyfriend and her very first love. At Ilvermorny, Thalia had friends of course but she had never developed as close a bond as the Marauders in such a limited amount of time. She wasn't as close with Peter as she was with the others but he always shared his limitless stock of snacks with her and provided smartass comments during their sleepovers. Sirius' big personality and sarcastic wit was inevitably going to draw Thalia in and she wasn't ashamed to admit how much she loved the boy and how much he made her laugh. As for Remus, Thalia always felt comforted in his warm, chocolate-smelling embrace and he had helped her so much during her year at Hogwarts, giving her advice and helping her with homework. And then there was Eloise, Thalia loved the boys with all of her heart but she did not know what she would do without Eloise as her best friend. She was the girly diffusion to their boy-filled lives and she was the softest soul that Thalia had ever known and she would treasure her friendship forever. And finally, James. Falling in love with James was the most spontaneous and unplanned thing that Thalia had ever done but she did not regret it one single bit. It was passionate and fun-filled and it was the perfect first relationship that Thalia would not change in one single way.

Getting expelled from Ilvermorny was the best thing that had ever happened to her and she was so grateful for Hogwarts for making the past year the best of her life - which she didn't think was possible after the death of her brother.

"Did you hear me, Lia?" James' uncharacteristically soft voice pierced Thalia's thoughts and his hand ran softly up and down her upper arm and she turned to face him,

"Hmm?" she raised an eyebrow and Eloise, Sirius and Remus burst into laughter across from them and James whined in despair as Thalia frowned, "What?" she asked at her giggling friends,

"James is trying to tell us that you listen to everything he says." Remus smirked, "Evidently not." he chuckled and James flipped him off,

"Leave him alone, Moony." Eloise swatted at her friend but a cheeky smile spread on her face, "He's nervous to see his in-laws again." she mockingly pouted and Remus and Sirius' laughter deepened as James reached forward to try and softly slap his sister, "ABUSE! ABUSE! SIRI, PROTECT ME!" Eloise scrambled on her seat as James let go of Thalia and began tickling the girl. Sirius pulled James off his girlfriend and it turned into a full-on wrestling match on the floor of the compartment accompanied with shouts of:

"Get him, James!" from Thalia and,

"Aim for the balls, Pads!" from Eloise and Remus.

"My babies!"

"Mummy!" Eloise and James ran up to an older woman with one of the kindest faces Thalia had ever seen. The girl suddenly felt rather awkward as she shuffled on her feet and played with the ends of her chocolate brown waves.

"Thalia," James called and she looked up to see her boyfriend holding a hand out for her to hold, "Don't be nervous, love." he smirked and she scoffed loudly,

"I'm not nervous." she shrugged but as soon as they started walking towards James' parents she felt her heart start to beat very quickly. Her parents loved James but what if his didn't like her and forced them to stop seeing each other? Not to mention they were Eloise's parents too so she would never be able to see either of them ever-

"Oh, James! She really is as beautiful as you said!" Euphemia gushed and Thalia felt herself calm down as she was engulfed in a hug and her nose was filled with the pleasant smell of lavender, "It's so lovely to meet you, Darling! James has told us so much about you." Euphemia Potter pulled away from the hug and tenderly placed a hand on the girls cheek, smiling down at her,

"You must be a saint if you put up with our James." Fleamont said cheerfully from where he was stood, his arm around Eloise,

"I've learnt that if I want peace and quiet I just need to give him a snowglobe. It entertains him for hours." she smiled and the Potters laughed heartily,

"We'll keep that in mind." Fleamont ruffled his son's hair,

"Maybe you won't have to be locked in the cupboard everytime you misbehave now, JJ!" Eloise teased and Euphemia tutted with a smile as she flicked her daughter's nose,

"Play nice, Belle. Your brother finally has a girlfriend to introduce us to." she kissed James' cheek and he halfheartedly tried to dodge it,

"Oh, look! It's the Scamanders! We must dash." he grabbed Thalia's hand and dragged her away. The girl laughed as she waved at the Potters who smiled at their obviously very in love son and she shouted to Eloise that she'd say goodbye to her in a minute.

"Bonjour, mes cheris." Camille smiled widely as James and Thalia approached and the girl felt her heart warm as she eagerly hugged her mother,  having missed her terribly after returning to Hogwarts those months ago,

"Salut, Mamon." she smiled as her mother's familiar pomegranate smell made her feel at home already.

"James! How was the rest of your year?" Thalia's father happily embraced the boy and James politely responded, a wide smile on his face.

"I forgot 'ow 'andsome your boy ees, Natalia." Camille whispered and Thalia giggled, pulling away to admire her boyfriends glowing face as he talking to her dad about Quidditch,

"Yeah," she smiled in adoration and he turned to see her looking at him, his lips pulling up and his hazel eyes sparkling as they roamed over her face before turning back to resume his conversation with Ben Scamander. Thalia could practically feel her heart spilling over with love as she looked at the boy, his messy brown hair falling over his forehead and his glasses lopsided over his nose that scrunched up as he laughed at something Ben had said. "He's not too bad is he?"
