A bang on the door woke up everyone in the room with the seal caster. Starmourn jumped from Stella's sheet and ran under the bed Ender was on. It continued until the person knocking heard ice encase the other side of the door.
"Sorry, we're closed!" Ender yelled, laughing all the while. Stella was taking much deeper breaths to recollect herself after using so much of her magic at once. He checked the sealing progress and was unsurprised when he saw that it had progressed as much as he expected, although it still shocked him that it completed filling the bottom half of the fractures and had begun working on the top.
"Ender, not funny," Stella gasped. She tried to smack him with her tail, but it moved slowly enough for him to be able to dodge it with ease. Starmourn came from under Ender's bed and jumped up to him, trying to play. "Give Starmourn some attention," Stella told him, having now caught her breath, "she wants it from you more than me."
Wish I still had some yarn, we both could've been playing with that, Ender immediately thought. Unsure of what to do, he reached for one of her paws, which made her jump back and go for his tail. He flicked it away once he noticed that was what she planned on doing, but she still somehow managed to catch an end of it. Wait, I moved my tail, didn't I? When he looked back at it, he saw that it had split in two from the middle. Stella looked when she saw that he had frozen up completely.
"Ender, what's going on?" Stella asked. She couldn't see what he was staring at or why, so she walked over to him. When she saw his tails, she almost freaked out and froze him. "How did this happen?!" she yelled, clearly as confused as he was. She then looked at her own and saw that it too was split into two separate tails starting from the middle of the original. At that point, she fainted.
Starmourn was still nibbling on Ender's left tail when the seal caster began rattling again, which scared her away and woke Stella up, who was still panicking about them having two tails. "I think I know why we have these extra tails," Ender began to explain. "Runise said there might be unexpected side effects of this being here with us for so long, so it might've just given us temporary tails until we get out of the room."
This seemed to calm Stella down enough so that she could speak normally. "And if they aren't temporary?" she inquired.
"Then I guess we'll have to live with them. Who knows, maybe we've got each other's magic or something." They both laughed at the thought of such a thing happening, but they knew that it was still possible with the caster, which stopped rattling soon after he said it. Suddenly, Stella turned into a small blue cat. Within seconds, she made an ice panel for herself and leapt up to it.
Ender climbed down from the bed and walked underneath the panel. "Don't worry about the clothes," he began, "they're still there. Not sure where they go, though." His blue rings were glowing as he was saying that, which calmed Stella down a bit. "You might want to make a name for that form, though. Just for future reference," he told her.
"A name, huh?" Stella pondered on that for a few minutes before deciding one. "How about blue cat? Goes with the color name thing you've got going on." She made a small floating ice ledge and jumped on it, which made her digits contract upon contact. This surprised her, which almost led to her falling off.
"How about ice cat? Or, something I like more, aisukyatto? It's just ice cat in Japanese, but it just sounds a lot better." He stood up on his hind paws and reached for Stella's right tail, which he managed to grab. This made her unbalanced and come even closer to falling off of her ledge. "Think about it. We all have Japanese names for our cat forms, and I kinda wanna keep that trend going." He let go of her right tail and pawed at the ice ledge before sitting himself down.
"Hmm, maybe. What if I want to break that trend, though?" Stella was dangling her paw down towards Ender, who was sitting and staring at it as if it was its own entity. "Sure, I'll go with aisukyatto. I like the way it sounds." After saying that, dark blue streaks appeared on her face and legs, and yellow rings began to glow on her thighs and forehead. Her paws also grew in size slightly to accommodate the strange increase in her body weight.
