Bring her back

Chapter 17

The amount of light and the pure whiteness of the room blinded her when she tried to open her eyes. She tried to recall where she was, but she couldn't.

'That's not my room' she thought to herself as she tried to open her eyes again.

She heard voices around her. At first, she didn't recognize them, but as she slowly gained her consciousness back, the voices became familiar. There were two, one of them was a higher woman's voice and the other was one she knew very well. She would recognize that low calm voice anytime. Then she realized that a big male hand was holding hers tightly.
Finally, she was able to open her eyes fully, although the light was hurting her and at first, she could barely see anything, but as the seconds passed, the silhouette right next to her bed cleared out. Her mouth turned into a smile and she squeezed the man's hand in happiness.

Kakashi turned his head towards her immediately and his eyes moved into a smile as he leaned towards her and caressed her cheeks.

"You're awake," he said quietly as relief could be heard in his voice.

She smiled back at him, then looked around and realized that she was in a hospital room. Her gaze met with a worried Tsunade's.

She tried to think about the last thing she remembered and it hit her like lightning. Her body stiffened, she squeezed Kakashi's hand hardly unintendedly and her face became frightened as the memories of the furious Ren came back.

"Hey, it's okay...it's over" he tried to calm her.

She started hyperventilating as she remembered his words and that he stabbed her in the back with something.

"What happened?" She stammered. "The last thing I remember... him stabbing me in the back with something, then I blacked out" she explained scaredly.

"He poisoned you," Tsunade said as she came closer to the bed. "Actually, he tried to kill you...it was a lethal poison." She added

"What?" She asked shocked

"Don't worry, you'll be fine now. I took out all of the poison from your system and made medicine that will heal you."Tsunade calmed her. " And we'll take care of Ren, he won't be able to hurt you anymore Sakura, don't worry about that anymore."

Sakura was shocked, she still had no idea how did she get into the hospital, and how Tsunade know that he was abusing her.

"I'll let you rest for the day and we will talk tomorrow. I'll need you to tell me exactly what happened after you left the training field and also, everything bad he did to you. Kakashi told me what he knew, but I need to hear everything from you. He'll rot in prison, I can guarantee you that." She said firmly, as she walked up to her with some medicine in her hands.

"Take it, then try to calm down and rest a bit," she told Sakura "I'm gonna come back and check on you as much as I can" she smiled at her, then turned around and started to walk towards the exit.

"I'm gonna check if they've put him in his cell, then talk to Ibiki about the following steps" She informed Kakashi as she left.

"As soon as your condition stabilized, Tsunade called in Naruto and Sasuke from the aisle and ordered them to arrest Ren and put him in a prison cell, because of his murder attempt," Kakashi explained to the confused Sakura.

He laid his head gently on their holding hands and took a big breath. Sakura caressed his hair and looked at him curiously.

"I thought, that I'll lose you. I was so worried." Kakashi said slowly as he turned his head towards her, then straightened himself up into a sitting position.

"I'm fine" she smiled at him. "How did I get here? What happened?" She asked curiously

"Technically Ren brought you here, but not for your saviour." Kakashi said then explained everything that happened since they last saw each other.

Sakura listened to him quietly with a serious face without interrupting him, but she felt the blood rushing out of her body, her breaths paced up and she started shaking slightly as Kakashi slowly reached the end of the story.

"So...none of you guys got hurt?" She asked stammered in a dying voice after he finished speaking.

"What?!...No! Everyone's fine!" Kakashi said and took her hands into his. He looked at her worriedly when he felt her cold shaking hand and saw her glassy look.

"Sakura! Everything's fine!" He said firmly as he stood up and wrapped his arms around her. He caressed her back trying to calm her, but he felt her breaths quickening and her body shaking.

"Take a deep breath Sakura and look at me!" He told her as he got back a little and took her face between his palms as he looked straight into her tearful green eyes.

"It's over, he will never be able to hurt you again! I promise." He placed a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be here for you, always" he said and wrapped her into his arms again.

She took a few bigger breaths to calm the hyperventilating then buried her face into his chest as she wrapped her still shaky arms around him firmly.

As the minutes passed the panic slowly went away and calmness came into its place in her.

"Is it..." she started hesitatingly as she pulled back from Kakashi a little to see his face. " is it really over?" Sakura asked

"Yes, it is," Kakashi answered as he caressed her cheeks and smiled at her.

She felt such relief and happiness she couldn't compare to anything she ever felt in her life. She realized that she was finally a free person again. She can do whatever she wants because no one will control her. The whole world is ahead of her, waiting for her to explore. She never felt this happy and grateful ever in her life. Tears filled her eyes and slid down her cheeks in happiness.

Kakashi wiped them down, then took her face between his palms and kissed her slowly and carefully. She melted as his lips touched hers as if it was their first time kissing. They pulled back and both of them smiled from ear to ear gratefully.

"I'm so glad, that you're okay," Kakashi told her as he sat back on the chair next to her bed. "I was terrified for a few hours that I'd lost you forever." he sighed as he looked at her.

"I'm so sorry." She said shamelessly " I never wanted to get you involved in the first place, but I was too weak." she continued as she stared into her lap.

"Are you kidding?! Chances are, that you would be still in that toxic relationship if you haven't told me about the situation, you were in...I'm really glad you did, Sakura!"

"Yeah, you're right" she looked up and smiled at him softly.

Kakashi stood up and went to the bedside table, he grabbed the medicine Tsunade left for her with a glass of water and gave it to her.

"Take it, then rest for a little as Tsunade said" Kakashi told her as he caressed her cheeks gently.

She nodded, took the pills then lowered herself to laying position on the bed as Kakashi tuck her in and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I'll go check on the guys and tell them that you're fine. They must be really worried. But I'll come back soon." Kakashi told her as he took a last glance at her and then left.

Sakura turned to her side and she tried to process what just happened to her. She really is free. She kept repeating this to herself as she couldn't believe that it wasn't only a dream. All that nightmare is finally over.

The story Kakashi told her about how she got here to the hospital scared her but she was glad that eventually no one got hurt and no one will hopefully now that he's in jail.

The sound of the door opening slowly knocked her out of thinking and she thought of the worst immediately. She thought it was Ren. She thought, that he came for her to finish what he started. She looked at the slowly opening door frozenly, because she was too weak to get out of bed to fight him.
