All day I'd been waiting for her arrival and I was starting to feel impatient. My wolf wasn't helping matters either. He kept pacing and snarling as the hours went by.

I tried to calm him without much success. But I couldn't blame him since I was anxious and worried too. So I opted to go for a run in hopes it would help calm us both.

Once I'd shifted, I made a beeline for her old territory, knowing that was the one place that brought us a small measure of comfort.

I stepped out of the woods and trotted over to the place I last held her. Dropping down to my belly, I allowed my eyes to sweep over this deserted place. It looked like a ghost town, lonely and empty.

A movement to the left had my head turning that way in a swift motion, and my ears twitched as they strained to identify every sound around us.

My wolf eyes landed on a rabbit that hopped away as quickly as it could, when it caught my scent. I mentally smirked thinking that if I wanted to catch it, it wouldn't have gotten away.

'Silly rabbit, ' My wolf muttered in my head, to which I grinned in agreement.

My wolf wasn't much for talking, in fact he rarely spoke. It made me wonder if it was due to his previous life. I was lucky enough to have been born with the soul of a Moon Warrior, which was unheard of.

Moon Warriors used to be the moon goddess' personal guards in ancient times, long before werewolves were created. My wolf Goliath, had proudly stated he'd been the Captain of her guards.

Moon Warriors were said to have been quite fierce and deadly. They were created for one purpose, to protect the gods from demons and other powerful beings.

None of the them had ever had a mate since they were as close to immortal as a being could get, there was no need for them to reproduce.

I knew this was why Goliath felt so protective and even territorial, of our mate. As far as he knew, he was the only one of his kind to be given such an honor. One he obviously cherished.

Since he doesn't talk much, I know very little about him. One thing he did share, was that because he had been our heavenly mother's captain of warriors, she had entrusted him with an important task.

A task that came with the added honor of having a mate for the very first time, as well as instructions to protect our mate, even at the cost of his own life.

Silvia was a vital part of some grand plan and without her, our kind would become extinct. We had no idea what it is that is yet to come, nor when.

But Goliath was confident we would succeed and he was prepared to do his part when the time came. As for myself, I would do whatever I need to do in order to protect our mate.

'Excuse me, Mr. Alpha, ' Ashley crooned sweetly through the mind-link. I mentally rolled my eyes at her tone, knowing she was about to start nagging.

'Yes?' I queried.

'Why aren't you in your office? Silvia should be here soon and where are you? Not here, which is evident by your empty office!' She sounded annoyed which made me sigh.

'On my way, ' I said.

Closing the link to her before she continues her nagging, I push myself off the ground and take one last look around before I turn back to the woods and head out at an unhurried trot.

I wasn't looking forward to more of Ashley's nagging so I intended to take my time getting back to the packhouse. That woman could nag a man's ears raw when she was anxious.
